I was reading about the possibility of Lance Stephenson being snapped up by the Hornets today in an article by Zach Lowe on Grantland. This makes sense as the rumor floating around is that Jordan trusts Larry Bird's eye for talent, and he wants Lance - he wants a hungry competitor like that on his team.

- So, let's say the Hornets sign Stephenson to a deal starting at $11 million per season (they have $12 million in cap room).
- They trade pick 24, Gary Neal and Brendan Haywood for Thaddeus Young, Pick 47.
- They draft Doug McDermott at 9, Patric Young at 45 and Nick Johnson at 47.
- They re-sign Luke Ridnour
- Sign Toney Douglas
- Bring in James McAdoo for the summer if he is undrafted

This would give them a rotation of:
CT: Al Jefferson/ Bismack Biyombo/ Patric Young
PF: Josh McRoberts/ Thaddeus Young/ Cody Zeller
SF: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist/ Doug McDermott/ Jeff Taylor
SG: Lance Stephenson/ Gerald Henderson/ Nick Johnson
PG: Kemba Walker/ Luke Ridnour/ Toney Douglas

I see this as a 2nd round team - they would still have spotty shooting but their 2nd unit looks very promising. A mix of athleticism, defense and shooting. I'm also of the frame of mind that MKG could be moved for Harrison Barnes at the deadline.

I thought the Hornets were in New Orleans and already became the Pelicans. You dont mean the Charlotte Bobcats? Will the cats make playoffs again next year?

Drafting that piece of shit at 9 would be a huge mistake

Young would be a good pick for them, that front court defense is abysmal. You need a rim protector.

I honestly don't see much promise in that team unless MKG starts taking some steps forward. Kemba is a good player, Al is great, but those guys as your core aren't going anywhere. Jordan says he wants to make a splash this offseason, so let's see how dumb a move he makes.

The team is better off as the Bobcats, people are used to it, fans are used to it, everyone is used to it.

No way Patric Young falls to the 2nd round, much less the 45th pick. McDermott is a good fit for this team, but i'm almost certain he's gonna be nothing more than a roleplayer, not exactly worthy of a top 10 pick in a draft like this.

as a horncats fan, i'm hoping they draft nik stauskas with the 9th pick. team needs outside shooting more than anything and he has the potential to end up being a really good player. klay thompson + the ability to put the ball on the floor

One of the other options is to get their hands on Josh Smith - he'll come easy. He could work well in McRoberts role, but also provides rim protection. Don;t let him hoot any contested jumpers or 3's. They could get him for peanuts

MJ drafted Adam Morrison. I think he will avoid making that mistake twice

Why are people so locked into the idea that McDermott will be just a role player?

There is a video out there showing his film vs NBA level length and athleticism in college, and he dominated them just like he did other players.

He's got such an aresnal of moves and a high basketball IQ that I don't see why he can't make it work. He had a great Dirk-esque fadeaway that he had success with in college. He was able to blow by elite athletes at college with great shot fakes, he can score with both hands, has a good back to the basket game, is very crafty at getting inside, and excellent at working off ball, the list goes on and on...

Plenty of NBA players have had high praise for McDermott as well, namely with how great of a shooter he is.

That Hornets team would be dope if fully healthy and if MKG can do away with his absolutely horrid shot. They should start Thaddeus Young though.

Why would anyone want Toney Douglas?

Hard to believe Hornets moved back to Charlotte...what city did Bobcats move to again?

If they can snag Lance, I would do it in a heart beat. Young, huge potential, and very talented. Those are not easy to come by, especially as a unrestricted free agent. They have proven to be among the worst in draft selection and its very difficult to snag players to play there. Huge comeup if they get him

you think CHA would consider going after bledsoe? or is that a bit redudant with walker still young and promising? though, a 2 pg line up worked pretty well with phx. also, if bledsoe started at the 2, theres not too many SG's in the east i think would give him trouble. in fact, teams in the east would have trouble staying in front of him.

and then maybe try to go after a shot blocker at the 4 spot. someone like henson may look good next to big al. but i did like what i saw from mcroberts this year. still, they could hugely benefit from a big who can shut down the paint

EDIT: would offering the 9th pick for taj be too much? also, i dont know CHA's cap situation, so maybe signing bledose and eventually gibson then walker, may be too much with big al already on the books
