Since social media has played such a big role in today's league. Social media contributes from helping and also ridiculing bran, alfred, etc for everything. How do you think the league would be affected by twitter / facebook / forums / etc back in the 80s and 90s with Wilt, Russell, Magic, Bird & MJ?

i think the media has done a great job as marketing betas like lebron to be alphas.

espn's ability to combine a bunch of irrelevant stats together until something compares to jordan is truly GOAT level.

they constantly make articles trying to dispel the hate for lebron, even recently suggesting it was a racial thing, when they simply fail to realize that roughly 80% of the hate comes from them trying to manufacture and sell him as something every real basketball fan can see that he isn't.

btw, the irony of that "white people hate lebron" article by espn was that towards the end the writer started talking about how lebron is going to surpass jordan on the court but the fans will never accept it because they keep jordan on a pedestal or some shit :oldlol:

Interesting question. I think that the recent arrival of social media (it only came to Mozambique two years ago) has hurt NBA legends. To use a random example, let's look at Kobe Bean Bryant. Surely if the Internet were around back in his "prime" years of 2000-2008, more of the world would recognize him as the #1 GOAT (or perhaps #2, behind all-time PER leader "Pistol" (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324732) Pete Maravich). Instead, there are those who have him as low as #5! Fortunately Kobe is remedying this through his active & informative use of the Twitter and the Instagram now.. but just imagine if he had access to these tools back in the day!

I think it has something to do with race. Every time a black superstar wants to move to another team nowadays he's vilified, like LBJ, Melo, D-Howard. It's kinda like people feel they should just "know their place" and stay with their teams if you know what I mean.

It really doesn't seem like it's a race thing from my POV, 80 percent of the league is black? Sports is something people want to relate to and that's why it's such a big thing. It represents your city / country and with that being said the Spurs are def America's team. I think ESPN had a vote on who would win the nba finals and it came to a 49-1 iirc? (I Doubt 98 percent of the US is racist) Like c'mon let's be realistic here, I'm not a "Heat/Bran" but Miami is def winning this series, if you think otherwise you need to be drug tested. I just feel like it's more hate towards LBJ more than anything and how things has unfolded during his career. Especially from what he said 2011 post final interview.

Cause Kevin Love is not in bran, melo or coward's tier of stardom yet. What has he really done in the league besides put up average numbers and missing the playoffs every year of his career? Why should Love be in the spotlight if he hasn't prove himself to the world?
