And against stupid/inexperienced coaches...I doubt they will be able to maintain this type of peak play against a REAL defensive team like the Heat...

Heat in 6

Heat aren't even peaking against soft offensive teams.

Spurs peaking over weak defenses > Heat playing average against soft offenses.

The eye test says the Spurs but we'll see.

spurs in 6 if ray allen doesn't get lucky again

games 1-2-3 Wade & Lebron were in a pretty severe funk. Imo, looking at the big picture it's the Spurs that got lucky last year.

Heat in 6.

Hate to tell ya dude but Miami isn't exactly playing world shattering defense themselves recently.

i see the pacers taking the heat to 7 and maybe wearing them down a bit before they face the spurs

that will definitely factor in

Hmm..

Game 1: 92 points-Good defense
Game 2: 84 points-Good defense
Game 3: 113 points-Bad defense
Game 4: 93 points-Good defense
Game 5: 114 points-Bad defense
Game 6: 100 points-Good defense-OT
Game 7: 88 points-Good defense

5 good games. 2 bad ones. The two bad ones were on the road.

The Heat played pretty good defense on the Spurs last year. If the three point role players disappear the Heat have a decent chance. But the Spurs are playing way to well right now to not be the favorite.

I'm sure they'll be terrified to play the Heat and their incredible 11th ranked defense.

You mean inexperienced coaches like Jason "Played last year" Kidd?

lets be real...heat will turn it on when they NEED to...they haven't been challenged all year and you all know this for a fact

Spurs in 4. Heat franchise disbands in the summer. Lebron goes back to the cavs. Wade retires and launches new clothing line. Bosh retires and goes to sucking dink full time.

Yeah but it's hilarious you'd call out the Spurs for beating on "dumb and inexperienced" coaches when the Heat played the mighty Bobcats and Nets. Like for real? :lol

The spurs basically have the formula to beat miami

- Great ball movement
- Great 3 point shooting
- Great defense
- Low post threat

And the best coach in the game.

Gonna be tough for miami to overcome that, and they have to get there first.

this has nothing to do with heat's competition everyone here knows it's nothing to brag about but it's definitely worth mentioning that the nets and pacers defense are way better than the blazers and thunder..my point is everyone is calling the spurs an offensive juggernaut should probably take it with a grain of salt because of the soft defenses they've been playing against

This is why you can never have a decent discussion on ISH, points per game doesn't only reflect defense but pace. So just quoting the points per game without looking at FG percent, the number of free throws the PACE and other variables tells us nothing. Your conclusion may be right that the Heats defense stifled the Spurs offense but your logic is flawed.

Until you consider that that number is inflated by playing all the terrible offensive teams in the pathetic Eastern Conference.

That might be true for a slowed down series like the Pacers, but the Spurs arent a slow paced team by any stretch and the amount of points they score is pretty indicative of the defense played.

You literally get the same results as the PPG.

41.7%
41.0%
48.9%
44.3%
60.0%
43.5%
37.8%

5 Good. 2 bad. A low scoring game vs the Spurs is good defense.

Next.
