If Miami come out of the east undefeated, they'd set a new record (12-0) cuz 2001 Lakers went 3-0 in the 1st round due to the old best-of-5 format.

Still, that Laker 3-peat Dynsaty was such an anomaly in the playoffs, I don't see Miami overshadowing them even if they 3-peat. 12 straight road playoff wins, 23-2 record in 25 games at one point (in a tough western conference,) record playoff differential overall and in a series (against Prime Duncan,) both Shaq and Kobe beasting. 12-3 record in the Finals during the threepeat.

I'd still be impressed if this Miami team pulls that off.

Sadly it could be 12-0 going to the finals. I would say it is more likely than not at this point, the way indy has been playing. I don't envision any non portland scenario in which they could conceivably sweep the spurs, thunder, or clippers. 16-0 isn't off the table, but it isn't likely imo.

When is Magic Johnson's playoff runs in the west brought up? How about the few where Jordan played garbage teams. Key word here is narrative. How often do you hear Tim Duncan's 99 ring doesn't mean a lot? Or how Kobe's 3rd ring was won by aid of ref help in the WCF? Narrative No one talk about this kind of shit outside of these message boards

Yeah, not close to Lakers 2001. Check out who they murdered on the road to 11-0 to get to the Finals. Teams that would easily beat Miami this year.

This team is just too good. It's just embarrassing that the Heat have to waste their time disposing of such grossly inferior teams on their way to the 3-peat. None of these clowns in the East (Brooklyn, Indiana, Washington) have a chance.:oldlol:

I really hope this backfires on them. That tough series against the Mavs really lit fire under the Spurs. This lack of competition and coasting may not be great when they do run into a real team coming out of the west. I'm guessing when Muhammad Ali was training for the world championship he didn't try to find the biggest scrub in boxing as a sparring partner, you gotta compete against the best to beat the best. The heat may not be able to find that extra gear this year and that miracle 3 might not fall this time.

:oldlol:

Yeah, last 3 years have been historically weak. :oldlol:

Right before then, and coincidently the Heat, everything was normal though. Just when the Heat started taking over, and your butt hurt started, is exactly when the competition got historically weak.
East now is better than it was for most of the 80's and 90's for the most part.

Wizards and Nets are healthy now, and both are 50+ win teams with healthy rosters. So... irrelevant.

Why would you want that? People will just say they only won because there was no competition, historically weak conference, and the western teams did their job for them in the finals by weakening each other on the way there. You should want great competition so LeBron could be propped up as much as possible, though I guess then they might not actually win...

Yeah, I guess it is better to win the finals without much competition than to lose and not make it against worthy opponents.

I wholeheartedly agree and we've agreed on this before, it's not that Miami is so unbeatable, it's the fact that the EC is the weakest it's ever been...no way in hell the Heat go undefeated out west, hell, the Grizzlies would take at least two from Miami.
