His personality, his beard, his offense - everything about him is a gimmick

There is no alpha under that tough guy act, there is no chin under that beard and there is no game under those free throws

He purposely grew his beard so that everytime he does his usual drive with his head flopping backwards, his foul zone becomes larger. Most of the fouls he get is when the defender touches his beard.

I like Harden and the commercials he's in. He's legit funny.

Even if he has the beard for marketing purposes, it's working so what's wrong with that?

Despite what you think about his game, he put up 25/5/6 on 46% shooting, 62 TS% making him the best offensive SG in the league, by a clear margin.

I get why he's hated but I feel it's over the top.

Harden has the most fundamentally flawed defensive stance for a guard I have seen. No wonder he gets blown by with ease. How the **** has no one taught him how to play D?

Only things I don't like about Harden is that he always plays for the whistle and his lack of defense is disgusting

The stance is called "not giving a fvck". Doesn't even pretend to try.

Being able to score a lot of points by doing a lot of iso does not = impact. The team has no rhythm because he is an uber ball stopper. Yeah he gets his points but he stagnates their TEAM offense and they're inconsistent because of it.

Go to scorers are also supposed to be capable and willing playmakers. See: Dirk, Lebron, Duncan, Paul, Durant etc.

James Charmin is not an elite offensive player. He's a volume scorer.

I wouldn't go so far as to call his game a gimmick but he's really not all that special. He's a really good player but if you can keep him off the FT line he's not super impressive. Definitely not a superstar, definitely overrated but he's still a pretty damn good offensive player. Horrendous defender though. Overall he's one of the better SG's in the League but the position is pretty weak at the moment.

Honestly I think Harden is a top 10 nba talent, might not be coached exactly the right way.

I'm unable to watch the current game but if the box score can tell a story what I see is DHoward with a ton of shots, especially early when he was hot. And I also see 2-14 for the team from 3-pt range, and I see Parsons with a 4-14 clip, Lin 1-5 (0-3 from 3) -- all the outside shooters are out of rhythm it seems.

Sure Harden choked in the finals a few years ago and he's had some bad playoff games since. But the story tonight seems to me that there is a power struggle, the offense changed and the shooters lost their rhythm. That spells end of the series for Houston.

Harden is like 4 for 20, doesn't play any defense, makes 1 layup in the 4th, yet some how, some way people still putting all the blame on Dwight :facepalm

Not all the blame.

But seriously, put a superstar center alongside the rest of this Houston Rockets team and see what happens. I guarantee you it's not 2 home losses to the 5 seed in the first round.

Dwight Howard is not a superstar. He's a borderline superstar. He's a Larry Johnson, a Tim Hardaway, a Tom Chambers, a James Worthy, etcetc

And he's a drama queen and a chemistry project for any team. I'm sorry but he's proven that to be true in 3 places now.

Harden in the playoffs as a Rocket: 37.1% shooting, 31% from 3, but at least he gets to the line 10.9 times per game. He's shooting like prime Ricky Rubio.
