View Full Version : Is Noah overrated?

I keep seeing all these threads about him being the best Center in the league and an MVP candidate, but I don't see how. Noah has missed a ton of games over recent years due to injury, yet I'm pretty sure the Bulls have been successful in most of the games he has missed. The Bulls are a system team, and will do decent in the regular season no matter who is out there for them. Yes, Noah provides great effort and energy on defense and on the boards, but can he be relied upon to give you ANY offense when you really need it?
Guys like Lebron and Durant could turn the Sixers into at least a playoff team, can we really say the same thing about a player like Noah? :confusedshrug:

Maybe a little bit, but he really is pretty good.

I always used to think Varejao was better but lately I'm not so sure.

Well in fairness he's more of a PF than a Center, but... :confusedshrug:

I just remember a year or two back when there were arguments about which of them was better. Now Varejao is still a "hustle" guy, and Noah is talked about as a top 3 center in the league. He has really blossomed.

yea, i think it was last year before he andy V went down with the injury, that he was putting up some pretty nice numbers. something like 12/12? but yeah, i was really impressed with him. in fact, wasnt that the season that byron scott said during a post game interview that everyone sucked but andy.

I don't think he's overrated, he's an excellent center. But when people say some stupid shit like "Noah is better than Howard at almost every facet of the game" despite him not having the stats nor the accolades to back it up, I guess in someway he is slightly a little overrated.

This is true about virtually every player in the league except for Lebron. The team is always bigger than the star, most people are just too simple minded to realize. Great teams succeed because theyre great TEAMS, the notion of them being 'carried' is vastly overrated. People just need extremely simple answers for their simple minds and one single face is preferable to a bunch of interworking parts.

The truth is the fifth ranked player in the NBA is not much different than the 35th ranked player. The orders of magnitude between each guy arent nearly as large as people think or want to think.

He has become a bit overrated, but it's only because he was underrated before.
