Simple yes or no.

Hes got the commercials.
Plays in a huge market
Perennial All-Star starter
Has the game to back it up
Explosive Dunking ability

What else is left denying him the superstar title?

He's superstar more than other superstars imo.

I mean, he's a highlight reel, that enough would put him in this conversation.

I don't like the guy, but as a player yes he's on his way to superstardom. Fans come to watch him dunk all over the place.

Depends on the definition. IMO no - there are currently only two superstars in the league and Blake isn't on their level. Maybe Chris Paul.

He is playing very well though and has made massive improvements. Consistency will be key, especially in the playoffs.

Who cares about a subjectively defined title?

He's one of the most marketable athletes in all of sports, and arguably the 3rd best player in the NBA right now. At the very least, he's top 5.

If we're not being totally conservative about the definition of superstar, I think Blake deserves to be considered one. He's been an absolute beast this year.

The hype made him a superstar, but he should not be one!

Yeah, the hype made him average 24/10/4 on 54/-/70.

The hype made him improve his jumper this much.

The hype made him lead his team to a 13-6 record with their best player/point guard out, which is the hardest position to be missing.

The hype is why in 2014 so far he's putting up 27/9/4 when his team has needed more scoring with players out.

Yeah, those are all hype, not actually impact he's had on the game...

I'm one of his haters/critics but I can't deny that he completely changed the culture of the Clippers. Overhyped or not, he's the reason why the Clippers are no longer a laughingstock.

CP3 came in and turned the L's into W's, but it all started with Griffin.

What is amazing is that ever since the Spurs game he turned into a completely different player. There was no indication of this at the start of the season. Now he's basically averaging 27/9/4 for the rest of the new year so far like you said. I think someone told him to be more aggressive or something and when CP3 got injured, it just clicked.

He's currently top 10 player in the league, so he is a superstar

He's one of the most recognizable players in the most media crazy city in America. He's a human highlight reel. He put his team on his back when CP3 was out. They're currently blowing the doors off the rest of the league.

He's a superstar by every definition.

The only knock I'll even listen to about BG is that he comes off as a fake tough guy sometimes. But to be fair, guys get in his face a lot. Would you rather he backed down and let dudes punk him?

I'll wait to see what he does in the playoffs before I put him anywhere near #3

Who would be number 3 then though? Most of the other nominees (Melo/Love/Harden) have done either nothing in playoffs or haven't even been there, so what would hold Griffin back from #3?

He clearly has played on a superstar level this year, especially with CP3 goin out. Only people that would say otherwise are trolling.

Now if he can keep this up come playoff time, there'll be no choice but for everyone to label him a superstar.

we'll see in the playoffs. that's where superstars are truly born. they are born in the post-season, not the regular season, and after his embarrassing first round exit last year, he is not a superstar yet.

In every sense of the word I would say yes
