You have to include Spoelstra now, too, but I would probably only take Pop over him at the moment.

Easily Top 5. If Bulls had a different coach, they'd need luck to make the playoffs without Rose

Thibs never brought the Bulls to a Final. Brooks got OKC there.

spo is not a great coach stop it. he's either average or below average. he makes too many mistakes that any great coach wouldn't do.

Bulls are 10-13 vs the West.

Bulls record is inflated from playing in the weak East.

Bulls would be 24-33 if they played out West based on their record vs the West which would be 11th place.

we have to consider the roster Brooks has had versus what Thibs has had to go through the past couple of years with injuries and limited depth.

Thibs is in my top 5.

As for Spo, who knows how he will be post big 3. That's the big question. Doc is showing he is taking this Clippers team to the next level.

Not sure what more Spo could have done. Three Finals in three years, with two titles. And who knows about this year, either?

EVERY great coach had to start coaching at some point. Hell, in Pop's first season, his team went 17-47.

The heat had 47-35 in 2010 with a bad team

Uhh, that's only if they played every game against the West. That's not how it works though. They'd still have a winning record if they played in the West.

As far as Thibs is concerned, outsideof Pop, I don't see how he trails anybody else. Nobody else in the league would have Chicago winning that much with freaking DJ Augustin as their best offensive player.

Spo, Pop and Rick Carlisle are the 3 best offensive coaches in the league.

Defensively is where they differ. Pop then Spo then Carlisle...

But in the last 4 years Carlisle has had the least talent and won a ship, gave OKC hell in the first round even though it was a massive talent mismatch, and now he's getting them to playoff spot in the West with no good option at center and not much defensive talent.

Has gotten Monta to play good basketball for the most part, and is getting just enough out of Dirk to get to the playoffs but not making him a workhorse.

Watch the games. Carlisle is an elite coach.

Easily top 5, maybe top 3 depending on the week.with all the trade rumors and actual trades, injuries upon injuries they still top 3 in the east .they a tough out for anyone in a 7 game series once the playoffs hit ,no matter the
Heat or pacers ,they makin them earn to advance .

He is elite. That's not what is being disputed.

But a whole tier above Doc and Thibs? Are you serious?

Carlise > Doc

Doc is a good coach, but he has had very good talent in the last 7 years. He is a good motivator and the players respect him, but Carlisle is more knowledgeable in terms of breaking down the game.

I never said I disagreed with that. I disagreed with Carlisle being on an entirely different TIER than Doc. When I think of tiers, the differences are pretty clear. Like KD/Lebron to Harden/Curry. You could definitely argue that Carlisle > Doc, but he's not on another level or anything.

Alright, i get your point. I'll admit maybe the difference isn't that drastic, but Carlisle is just a better coach.

I think you're right but you can't really rank him higher considering Thibs has yet to win anything and Pop kinda has.

Thibs is an amazing coach. What he has down with this team is astounding. He's right up there with Pop as the best coaches in the league. If OKC had Thibs they'd win the title, with relative ease.

You can rank him as high as you want. There's no defined criteria for this. Thibs has had his best player miss two straight seasons in a row and the year prior to that he missed a huge portion of the season. He's also managed to win even though the Bulls traded away one of his best and most reliable players. No other coach is able to get his players to get up for every game better than Thibs.
