Just to get this right...at first, you really meant "players you grew up watching". After being exposed, you changed to "franchises you grew up watching". Which was kinda smart, I gotta admit. But then it turns out you're too damn stupid to realize the Bobcats weren't around in the 90s...and now you're saying "grew up watching" really means "in my lifetime"?

Dude...you know what really sucks? It's socially not acceptable to laugh at mentally disabled people. So I feel bad for the urge to point my finger at you.

And a funny coincidence...I'm studying for exams currently and was just learning a study showing how deprivation in orphanages can lead to impaired cognitive abilities later on. Do you want to share your story?

wow the flaming of this thread but I do get what you mean though. Let's see..... I AM having to go to bball ref on this... first season or so I remember it would be about like this

76ers - Big Dipper Wilt Chamberlain, Chet the Jet Walker
Celtics - Hondo John Havlicek, Silent Sam Jones
Royals - Big O Oscar Robertson
Knicks - The Captain, Willis Reed
Bullets - Kevin Loughery

Warriors - Nate Thurmond was my favorite even tho Rick Barry.....
Hawks - Lenny Wilkens or Lou Hudson
Lakers - the Logo Jerry West
Bulls - the Original Bull Jerry Sloan
Pistons - Diamond Dave DeBusschere, Cherry Dave Bing

But in the next couple seasons came Pete Maravich on the Hawks, Wes Unseld and Earl Monroe, Connie Hawkins - whole lot of guys really.

But also my all-time favorite player... the Thief.. the Dapper Dribbler... Mr. Freeze of the Fire & Ice Rivalry! Defender of the Faith of the Garden and Engine of the Rolls Royce Backcourt....
Clyde!!!

I consider my years of growing up (elementary through high school). I didn't watch NBA until 1991 & graduated high school in 1999.

Atlanta = Dominique by default (who else? Rumeal Robinson? Lol)
Boston = Kevin mchale by default (at bball camp I was taught his up&under)
Charlotte = Larry Johnson (i like muggsy too but he's at 2nd place)
Chicago = toss up between mj and pip.
Cleveland = mark price by default
Dallas = eh...by default Jason kidd
Denver = Robert pack (1994 playoff)
Detroit = rodman (by default due to my fanhood of the 90s bulls)
Golden state = chris webber
Houston = clyde
Indiana = Reggie by default
Clippers = Brent barry
Lakers = cdric ceballos
Miami = Harold miner (lmao ifell for the hype back then)
Milwaukee = ray Allen (who later was traded to the Seattle sonics)
Minny = Jr rider
New jersey = drazen petrovic
New York = john starks
Orlando = penny hardaway
Philly = Charles barkley
Phoenix = see philly
Pdx = see Houston
Sacramento = Corliss Williamson
San Antonio = see detroit
Seattle = Shawn kemp
Toronto = tmac
Utah = john Stockton by default because he's from wa state and I was in Seattle in the 90s
Vancouver = eh...if I had to name one big country due to his cult like status from the 95 ncaa.
Washington = Michael adams

I didn't include the bobcats because I was already in my 20s then. Most of the players I listed above are to answer op's questions.

My absolute favorite players are Larry Johnson, mj pippen and, shawn kemp.

i'm fairly young and only started watching basketball in 2001 back when nba live 2002 for the xbox was out and i loved the game and it got me into watching the sport.

philadelphia 76'ers - allen iverson
portland trailblazers - damon "mighty mouse" stoudemire
sacramento kings - chris webber/mike bibby
los angeles lakers - kobe bryant (hated him for a long time but he grew on me)
minnesota timberwolves - kevin garnett

i didnt watch much basketball from 2004-2008 aside from a few playoff games and the finals here and there. i started following basketball religiously again in the 2008 finals

boston celtics - rajon rondo (favorite player of this era)

that's all i can think of at the top of my head. not really a "player fan" much i just like watching good teams perform and great matchups. the time from 2004-2008 felt more like "empty" match-ups to me and the sport had grown dull.

Lakers - Jerry West

Boston Celtics - Bill Russell

Detroit Pistons - Dave Bing

Cincinatti Royals - Oscar Robertson

New York Knicks - Dave DeBusschere

Chicago Bulls - Jerry Sloan

Baltimore Bullets - Earl Monroe (actually liked him most with the Knicks, teamed up with Walt Frazier - one of the best backcourt tandems EVER)

San Francisco Warriors - Nate Thurmond

St. Louis Hawks - 'Sweet' Lou Hudson

Philadelphia 76ers - Wilt Chamberlain

Suns, Rockets and Supersonics were new teams, and I didn't really form any opinions about them (and their players) until I was older.

We actually didn't get to watch as much basketball as there is on TV today. Much of it was through the 'words eye view' of Chick Hearn. Even the Finals were blacked out sometimes :~/

I got all the same guys man!!

Except Russell. We all wanted to play smashmouth football right on his face. Everybody I knew hated that dude with his stupid cape and his arrogant air and would never talk to anybody. Sam Jones was always the smooth quiet friendly guy but Russell? we all wanted to beat him down, make him look just like a noodle. On the court though!! He was it man. one of the greats.

Those days you could talk to em, actually meet them, some of the players would recognize us and come over when we showed up on a road trip. lotta fun back in that time frame. Not Russell though. He was un-fun.

Russell was pretty serious. I had no idea what he was truly going through at the time. I greatly admired how his defensive presence had so much impact on the game, even though the Celtics inflicted so much pain on my beloved Lakers. I have to be vigilant about praising a Celtic and being objective about them, as it still tastes of fecal matter to say something nice about one of them ;~)

1972 was an awesome year to be a Laker fan, but 1985 and 2010 are still my favorite championships. . . . primarily because they beat the team that had tortured them for so many years.

I chose to click on this topic... and not for the luls.

And after a couple pages of trolling FreshKid people actually answered the question (altho it was kind of funny, the Bird thing.)

I can't do every team, but I'll rattle off a few ones.

Kevin Willis on ATL
when I grew up, Boston was bad. Dino was kind of funny, though.
Hated the bulls, even tho I was from IL.
no cav but Brandon was a beast
Laphonzo(sp?) Ellis
Tim Hardaway
Zo or LJ. Altho Gill was a beast, too.
Damon Stoudamire
Robert Horry (**** alphabetical order)
Derrick Coleman
Van Exel was a lot cooler before the Lakers were decent
SHAQ
Muresan

etc etc...

GP
Stockton
Strickland
Glen Robinson
Lamond Murray...

ok I'm tired of naming shit.

For me, this can be called "My favorite players of the 90s" since I started watching 1990.

Atlanta- Mutombo
Boston- Dee Brown? (I didn't count Bird because only was in the league for a short time that I was watching)
Charlotte (Hornets)- Zo (LJ was right behind)
Chicago- Pippen
Cleveland- Mark Price
Dallas- Jim Jackson

I started watching the NBA back in 96, but to say that I would have a favourite player on each franchise would be a stretch. Pippen, Penny and Kobe were my favourite players though.

Favorite team growing up - Seattle SuperSonics fan since late 80s toddler age, Dale Ellis got me into it, would still be a diehard Sonics fan if they existed, the desolation of them is the desolation of me ever being a team fan (pun intended Oklahoma "Thunder")

Favorite player growing up - Reggie Miller.
