View Full Version : DeAndre or Hibbert?

I thought Hibbert was averaging 13 rebounds but mixed him up with DJ. Hibbert is only averaging 7 rebounds, what's up with that? How come nobody has really mentioned DeAndre's 13 rebounds? How is he not an all star and Hibbert one? DeAndre is blocking shots just like Hibbert and Hibbert is only shooting 47 percent. So what exactly is Hibbert doing that stands out?

Playing defense is more than just blocking shots. Also:

I'm not gonna knock DJ's work. By on offense he does need to be force-fed dunks. He is rebounding great though, but his biggest problem is that he is a liability at the end of games due to his poor foul shooting.

Hibbert has had a down season - partly his own rather sluggish play (dude looks ugly when he gets the ball in the post) and because of the emergence of Stephenson as a legit play-maker and more effective scoring options (particularly off the bench, especially now with Granger back). But the Pacers I believe are the best defense in the league (someone correct me if I'm wrong), and a big reason of that is Hibbert. He may not have the block numbers, but he sure alters a lot of shots and I'm sure discourages a few guys taking him on. DJ may get those highlight swats (that don't earn you a possession at any rate), but Hibbert I believe is more solid and more fundamentally correct.

Also, SHUT THE FCUK UP SHADY!

I'm honestly shocked how much better DJ got he went from overpaid scrub to above average C in one season, I use to hate on the dude hard now he's one of the few Clippers I don't mind.

Hibbert's value will become more apparent come playoff time when the Pacers use him more. Deandre's a solid center but he's still a role player that can't create his own offense.

It's no comparison despite the numbers, Hibbert is the big man that wins you games in the playoffs , Jordan just goes for the flash and stats.

he's averaging 8

I'll take Hibbert over DJ any day. Hibbert does everything that DJ does on D and doesn't have to shape his offensive game solely on dunks.

Why are you allowed to make threads? They are the worst of the worst

Of course it's Hibbert, although he trips and falls about 12 times a game for whatever reason.

I'm preferential to the stylistic game of the fundamental big over the athletic freak. Hibbert for me...

He's been making little hook shots though offensively he has improved a lot.

This.
PG will not outplay LeBron for 7 games, it all comes down to Hibbert down low he can match up against Bosh, Anderson, Oden, haslem very we'll. his size is a factor

Hibbert is only good vs the Heat and smaller teams. Outside of that he is average even mediocre at times.

DJ on the Pacers, Pacers get crapped on by the Heat.

Hibbert on the Clippers, the Clippers have a much better chance of coming out of the West. Possibly even the West favorites.

Why does Hibbert suck at getting rebounds?

It feels like he should be getting way more than 8

He's not fast/athletic enough. Plus he doesnt impose his will on the bigger teams. Which is odd since he has the potential.

Plus when he helps on drives someone else collects the rebounds by nature of their defensive scheme. People criticize Bosh for his lack of rebounds and rightfully so, but he is always trapping at the perimeter so it is harder to get rebounds.

Deandre is more athletic and is a better rebounder.
Hibbert beats him at everything else.

If I was building for the future, Jordan easily. But for this year and playoffs Hibbert. Jordan is a freak athlete for his size, and can work on his offense. Hibbert is a goon who falls down 10 times a game and only plays well against 1 team in the league.

Deandres stats are not empty like most are saying here. He blocks a lot of shots, but no doubt he alters many shots as well. He is very active defensively. And while you can knock him for his offense, Doc came out and told him straight up before the season that he wants him to focus on defense and rebounding, which is exactly what he has done this year. He is never going to be a great offensive player, but his D is legit and he anchors the Clipps on that end. he is a great team player and very receptive to coaching as we have seen this year.
