"Rod Thorn, NBA President, Basketball Operations, issued the following statement today regarding a missed foul call late in the fourth quarter of the Dallas Mavericks’ 100-98 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 30, at Target Center:
“Through postgame video review, we have determined that Minnesota’s Kevin Love was fouled on the right arm by Dallas’ Shawn Marion while attempting a two-point field goal. Love should have been awarded two free throws with one second left on the clock.”

That's hilarious how they can do that stuff then issue an "apology" and all is good. Why play games at all?

So, if the NBA got this call right, he wouldn't have put up empty stats again, yes?

Sometimes empty stats come in wins. If Duncan has 30/20, it's not empty, win or lose. If Love has 30/20, it's clearly empty, regardless. Why even question that?

Always bugged me about NBA and NFL. Call was wrong one week and then they can just say sorry we missed the call and everything is okay. How about some accountability?

This is ****ing bullshit man. What's the point of publicly admitting the refs made a mistake? The game is over....it's not like they're going to change the outcome of the game. It just pisses people off even more...

This statements by the league always irritates me, No way they should call out their own mistakes like that, especially if it's a call that's an obvious foul, it's killing the credibility of the refs, Either you stay silent and punish the ref who missed such a call, or you stay silent forever.

Cant believe Mavs fans were trying to argue this was not a foul...It was clear as day...

So that is worthy an apology. How about that bastard apologizes for stealing the 2006 title from the Mavs. Wade hits Dirk in the face with a flying forearm and gets two free throws for it, but Marion hitting 70% ball and 30% hand is conclusive enough to issue an apology. Hey while you are at it Stern how about an apology to the Jazz and Kings, too.

I'm sure this apology makes up for a team that badly needs a win not having the chance to get one.

@PeterVecsey1 Surprised that NBA apologized. I thought fouling Love means never having to say you're sorry.

It was an obvious foul
but 2 points.

1 NBA refs swallow the whistle all the time during the last few seconds.

2. The mavs are not a contender this year. The fact that it was this close shows how empty Love's stats are. It seems like he is the most unimpactful good player in the League.

This shit always happens to the raptors. If you are a garbage team then the refs are more likely to f*ck the call up by not giving the benefit of the doubt as it occurs live and then just apologize later. Doesnt accomplish anything but at least it does acknowledge the players' and fans' frustration

What a game for Marion 32 points with 4 threes and a great defensive play to win the game

The NBA is a joke! Why even apologize? It's not gonna change anything.

Also I thought a few years back they used to say that your hand/wrist is a part of the ball.

If we go by that rule it's not a foul but I still think it's a foul either way and a horrible no call

The reason they apologize is because people whined and whined and whined that reffing in the NBA isn't transparent enough.

And now that they admit mistakes, people whine and whine and whine that it doesn't even make any difference and just pours salt in the wound.

At least now there is a public record of refs that the NBA has admitted messed up.

If we go by that rule it's not a foul but I still think it's a foul either way and a horrible no callTends to be used more in steals, and non shooting motions. From what I've noticed once a shooting motion has begun unless the defender clearly has his hand on the ball either forcing a jump or sends the ball in some other direction it's a foul. you can't hit the shooter on the hand and claim it's part of the ball.

To me it looks like he got wrist, no matter where I pause the vid I can't see hand clearly on ball or just hand but I do see the wrist..
