View Full Version : Lin's defense

He held Parker, Conley and Holiday to a combined 8/35 shooting in his last three games. That's less than 25%. No guy reached double figures and he out scored each guy in every game.

And the Rockets won all three games to boot.

Lin doesn't get enough credit for his D.

He's also clutch as hell, too.

Lin is a terrible defender, and those other PGs are not very good, and are very prone to having bad games.

Saw the game today against Pelicans. It seems like Lin's simply able to expend more energy on D in the current Rockets' system because they've completely removed him from being a play-maker on the offensive side of things.

The primary options for Houston this game was:
1. Harden iso
2. Harden high pick and roll
3. Dump down to Dwight

The only times Lin was able to attack was either off a fast break or a broken play. There are no more Linsanity type pick and roll plays being ran for him, which also explains his recent low amount of turnovers.

He's still not being utilized properly as a catch and shoot guy though, I can see why they thought Bev was more appropriate to start with Lin running things on the second unit.

Always said Lin has the size to be a good defender in this league if he justs puts more effort into it..not suprised this year because of his limited role that hes actually doing better. i like him coming off the bench better, good with the second unit, and ESPN actually has him as 6th man of the year so far.

What happened the last time people got excited over a few good games from Lin?

So Tony Parker isn't very good? :oldlol:

Parker has been terrible all season. His performance against the Rockets had less to do with Lin and more to do with him being exhausted all season. Playing over the summer for France has obviously taken a toll on his body - he's looked tired all year. As a result, he's been half-assing games and doing very little playmaking and instead forcing the issue with terrible shots and lackadaisical drives to the basket. Basically pulling a Kobe - ruining the flow of the offense in order to get his own points. More proof of this? Calderon's an extremely shitty defender and Parker went 6-18 against the Mavs. Every time the Spurs pulled away against Dallas, Pop would Parker back in and he would look for his own shot instead of passing to any of the open shooters.

wow OP I will have to check him out I've only seen one early Rox game this season and part of another (when they were beating Pistons a week or two ago).

I always did like Lin his huge popularity was great for the league... and another (by no means only) blatant reason why marshmellow anthony will never be anything but a putz was his deliberate destruction of linsanity for his own dismal hog-ification purposes.

Funny Dwight can't stop Harden's guy from going off every night but he can stop Lin's guy.

Sure...Dwight helps...but it's not like Lin is holding these guys to sub par games. He is shutting them the **** out. Parker with just 6? Holiday with just THREE? Conley had 11 (I was incorrect in thinking he just had nine) but it was on 4 of 14 shooting and he is now the main option, along with Randolph, since Gasol went out. And a couple shots he made were tough as hell...step back threes with a hand in his face.

Never really liked Lin but his D on Isaiah Thomas who has been on tear was impressive today kept Thomas to 6/17 and made him airball like 3-4 times.

Jeremy Lin has all the tools to be a good point guard in the NBA. He's actually quite efficient and just gets hated on because of Linsanity. If that never happened, he would be pretty highly regarded I think as an up and comer in the league.

He's an athletic, big guard that can play both PG and SG and he gets less credit than he deserves because people expected so much more from him... or expect him to fail.
