View Full Version : Are the Blazers legit?

They're 7-2 now.
They already had a solid core in Lillard, Matthews, Batum, and Aldridge, and it looks like the additions of Robin Lopez and a real bench are helping, especially Mo Williams.
Predict their record by the end of the season!

They're good. Too bad the west is stacked. Probably low 50 wins. CJ Mccollum looked good in summer league. Should add a nice punch off the bench when he comes back (anybody know when that will be?).

Looks like he has 1 more month before reevaluation

I think around 45-48 wins. We'll drop off, we've had a pretty easy start to the season. Looking good, don't get me wrong, but we're not even close to a contender. I think we'll end up 7th in the west or so.

Seriously.. Lopez is good at boxing his man out but he isn't aggresive going for the rebound. Or at least that's what he did his first 5 years in the league.

7th in the west will probably be high 40s to low 50s. Lakers/Rockets were the 7th/8th seed with 45 last year.

The West once again is a warzone, while the East is like a Barbie beachhouse or something.

I guess Aldridge not being a great rebounder is helping Lopez's numbers :confusedshrug:

I edited before you said this, I think we'll end in the mid-high forties.

I think they make the 6-8 seed. I had them as the 7 or 8 seed before the season started, but I'm losing confidence in Memphis as a lock for the top 6.

They got 3-4 quality shot creators, a massive frontline, 2 legit go to guys and they play good team basketball, they certaintly from a talent point of view are legit. They just got to keep this up no reason why they shouldn't be a 48-52 win team.

No. It's very early in the season. Some bad teams are off to good starts and some good teams are faltering early. Give the season a little more time.
They are legit playoff contenders, but not legit in terms of being a top team. They started with probably the easiest first 10 games in the league, so it will just get harder from here.
A look at their games so far:
L @ Suns
W @ Denver
W vs Spurs
L vs Rockets
W vs Kings
W @ Kings
W vs Pistons
W vs Suns
W @ Celtics
They only played against 4 teams above .500 and with a record of 2-2 against those teams (keep in mind, 1 win and 1 loss of those 4 games were the overachieving Suns, which is not impressive). That means they have 1 win against a quality team (Spurs), but that was a home opener so the Blazers likely had more energy than usual in that one.
Overall, they are beating teams they should beat, which is important for them to get into the playoffs, but that shouldn't make them scary to the top 10 teams or so in the league.

I think they had a hot start last season too, but they lost momentum and Aldridge getting injured made things even worst. Hopefully they'll make the playoffs, very exciting team

Olshey is a very good GM. Annoyed Sterling allowed him to move on.
Blazers on top of NBA.com's power rankings and Aldridge has now won 2 of 5 Western Conference player of the week awards.

Right now, yes, they're legit because they've picked up some big wins. But like others have said, let's wait a little while longer to determine how "for real" they are.

Neil the God.
He was going to bolt to Portland unless Sterling vastly overpaid him.
