Just watched the Hornets game its my third one I have watched this year.
Shows nothing promising, not a good 3 pointer shooter, no mid range, streaky at best, can't dribble well, can't pass, turnover prone, gets burned on defense.
Atleast players like Kwame Brown played good man to man defense, what is this guys strengths?

Okay.
Players are busts after not completing half a season.

a lot of you guys are going to feel really dumb in 3-4 years when he's averaging 16/4/5 on 44% shooting.

?? His playing style is completely different than D-wades. I think people were making the comparison of Waiters to D-wade but I never saw a Rivers one.
I think Rivers could end up being a Monta Ellis type of player

He's the second biggest bust of all-time behind Gary Payton.

And Derrick Coleman is the GOAT PF.

Calling someone a bust before they're even halfway through their rookie season is one of the most retarded things I've ever seen. But then again this is insidehoops so it should be expected.
P.S. If we're calling people busts after their rookie seasons then shouldn't Jordan get more credit for carrying that scrub, ultimate bust Pippen to six titles? Check his rookie stats!

The sad thing is that you're right. Since they keep giving him playing time and responsibilities he might eventually turn into an NBA player. Not to mention he's in a pretty decent team (in terms of how well they play together) with one of the best young coaches in the league.
How many chances will this guy get? How much can he screw up before they get tired of him? It's annoying to see how lucky he is, combined with how much he sucks.

This. Rivers has shown a lot of skills. His form is not bad, but the percentage is just putrid.

I remember absolutely no one saying this.
The most often used comment I remember about Austin Rivers on these boards was "Stay in school, kid."

I think it`s safe to say that there is at least a 1000 busts for each Scottie Pippen... poor numbers don`t predict a HOF career

Rivers with a nice game today. 24 pts 7rbs 6 assists. Hopefully this'll translate into the season.

Who really thought he was gonna be a star?
I knew he would suck. People got all excited cause of those shots he hit with Duke.:facepalm
He should've stayed 3 more years and developed in college.
He not stressing for money so why leave early?

The dude was straight beastin.
Anyway, I'm suprised by his work ethic. When he came out of college people thought he was a cocky guy with no work ethic. That wasn't true at all.
Rivers was probably the classiest person on the team and he's probably the hardest worker.

Too early in his career. But he probably had one of the worst rookie seasons in recent memory.
He's too skinny and small for the Shooting Guard, and he's to much of a ball hog and a chucker for the Point Guard position.
He needs to gain muscle, work on his team play, and understand that he is never going to be the next Kobe Bryant, the best I can see his career being is O.J. Mayo type of a player.

You guys really need to stop reading his draft profile. This is just flat out wrong.

A promising young guard, being declared a bust after only one season, on a mediocre team. lol. Too much.
As young and skinny as the kid is, he has a lot of physical growing to do before he can become a legitimate role player. He still has to gain a bit, practice his shooting, learning to handle the ball in pressure situations, and more importantly, adjusting to the speed of the NBA game. The general public almost thinks anyone can play in the NBA and its sad. When you're asked to display all of your skills in the fastest level of basketball, it takes a lot of hard work, practice, and patience from fans.

Just quoting myself here for hindsight. Rivers will be one of the best shooting guards in the league. His first step is unstoppable.
He has the IQ, pedigree and work ethic to become a star.

This
I don't think he's going to be an all star, but's he's going to be a solid 7th man off the bench.
