Just think what he'd do with the shorter international 3P line. Durant made that shot look like empty gym shooting practice during the Olympics and Novak is a better long-range shooter than he is.

This is why you should always work hard and practice no matter if you're a bench warmer or a starter. Novak was just known for being a sharpshooter off the bench, now he is known for being the best sharpshooter in the LEAGUE.
Great work ethic, hope he leads the nba in 3 point field goal percentage again!

steve at some point in his career will probably have the best three point season ever. actually, he'll probably do that and then also do something like have 3 of the 5 best three point shooting seasons of all time.

he arguably already did it last year

So glad we have this guy, he really spaces the floor, makes the offense more dynamic and can blow games open

If you watched the game youd notice the improvements hes made this summer, most notably a quicker release. That alone is enough to keep him effective even against the best defenses

Not many teams close out on the perimeter as quickly as Miami. He'll still get his numbers against most teams.

:applause: Hopefully he got a better feel of the Knicks defensive schemes during training camp so he'll see more playing time. Yes, he can shoot lights out, all he needed was to improve on defense.

How can you be the best at something when every shot you take is wide open? This like when Steve Kerr was leading the league 3pt%...yeah he played with ****ing Michale Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Let's put Steve Novak on the Bucks and Sonics in Ray Allen's role and see how he does. When all you do is spot up it is easy for everyone to  , but it's a lot harder when you are running around or creating your own shot. This Steve Novak bullshit is a ****ing joke, but I guess when your a Knicks fan you need anything to be enthusiastic about. :confusedshrug:

Really? I didn't catch the game but that's crazy he'd change his release at 29 years old after being a lights out shooter his entire career. F*cking with your form at 29 when you just shot 47% from 3 on 3 makes a game is beyond stupid. Esp to the point where point can notice it like that.

That's wild if it's true. You hear about post players, guy's who can't shoot coming in and changing things up but a vet 3 point specialist? Nobody even ****ed with Marion's ugly ass release cause it worked :lol

No one else?:oldlol: GTFO Novak gets so overrated. Kyle Korver set the NBA record for 3PT% a few seasons back, higher than Novak ever shot. There's been plenty of guys who are great at shooting open threes, Novak is up there but stop acting like he's the GOAT 3PT shooter because he's not.

Does anyone know what's the record for most three pointers made without a miss in a preseason game ? Novak might have broken the record.

Guy is a deadly shooter. Right now I would take him over Ray Allen to make a wide open three but I'll take Ray for coming off the screens and taking a heavily contested three.

Why it would be a fluke ? It's not like he's been average shooter before the last season. He has always been a great shooter. A 3-pt specialist.

Shooting 47% for three and taking a lot of attempts is ridiculous so he might not repeat it this season but I'm sure he'll shoot +40% from deep once again.

Yeah he even said he planned to do this a few months ago. He was upset about how ineffective Miami made him and that motivated him to work on his shot fake, being able to put the ball on the floor for 1 dribble to get better space, and a quicker release

You're not supposed to shoot contested jumpers off the bench. He should be smacked every time he shoots a contested 3 unless the shot clock is under 2.

He's a beast anyways. And I'd bet most his misses come from contested shots. Not gonna go and say he always misses when contested but It's the type of stat teams cream for. NBA failing the fans.

Idk man... Not a knicks hater but screwing around with your release after having an amazing shooting season, just because you had one bad series. I could see this getting him off to a slow start once the regular season starts. But who know's I've never seen a guy who was probally the best catch and shoot player in the nba change his form a couple months later.

He didnt change his MEHANICS at all, hes just learning to shoot faster. The mechanics, release point etc are all the same

Everyone knows Novak's deficiencies. People blame Woodson and Novak himself for his poor series, they are partly to blame. However Novak relies on penetration and ball movement to get his shots. When your down to a severely hobbled Baron Davis and Bibby and relying on them to penetrate and dish it out to the open shooters against Miami, you know you have a problem.

Knicks have 3 great facilitating and passing pg's this year, will be great to see Novak amongst others get open so much more.

Agreed. And in a lot of ways Novak was a big help. Because while the Heat kept a defender glued on him (often Wade, a good defender)...everybody else on the floor was left to miss open jumpers while the defense focused to keep Melo out of the paint. In essence he still played a big role in occupying a defender, there just wasn't enough from the guard position to take advantage of the attention Novak and of course Melo was getting. I don't think that's a problem this year. As impressive as Novak was, I feel like Raymond Felton was more impressive...infact all 3 Knicks pgs impressed.
