Ugly as hell. Just horrible. And I'm not saying that because I'm a Knicks fan,I'm saying that because I really mean it. For example I hate the Celtics but I love their arena.
But this shit is just terrible. It only looks good from the outside.

Not a big fan of the interior. Of the new or "newish" arenas, Amway Center looks nicer if you ask me.

The exterior is amazing. There is also a video on YouTube demonstrating the arenas platform lighting at night which lights up the entire block in a series of different colors. The interior color of the wood is not as appealing and I wish it was a light color. Dark brown wood and black paint are a bad combo. I'm satisfied though.

I actually don't mind it. I like it made to be worn and rusty, although that doesn't really play out knowing it is brand new arena. But it's ok, they tried to make it somewhat unique.

I like it. I also like the plainness of the new jerseys so maybe I'm in the minority tho.

Seating capacity looks like it tops out at what, 8,000? :lol no seriously though that looks like one of the smallest arenas in the NBA is there an upper level of seating that just can't be seen in the pics or something?

18,103 is seating capacity according to Wikipedia. That's 4th smallest in the NBA (only Hornets,Kings and Rockets have smaller arena). The biggest NBA arena is The Palace in Detroit with just over 22000 seats.

I personally like it alot. The place is going to be great they dont shell out that type of money for a sub par arena. Prokhorov(sp), is trying to turn this franchise around and i commend him for that. Cant wait to catch a game at the expense of my wallet:lol

It has nothing to do with me being a Knick fan. I hate the Celtics more than I hate the Nets but I still find their arena great. I can't say that about Barclays Center. Ugly as hell.

I don't like the exterior design either. When I walked by the terminal while it was still in construction I thought the rusted look was only temporary, but nope. The weathering steel benefits seem exaggerated as well as it has its downsides. Believe me, it really is ugly as it seems. Usually I'd try to be biased and say that it looks better in person, but nooooope. Maybe it'll be decent when it opens at night with all the lighting inside. The concept picture actually looks really nice.

But for those who are hating on the interior design such as the court itself, wthell? What did you expect it to look like?

Maybe it will look better in an actual game. Preseason will start soon so we'll see how it looks like on TV.

The outside is ugly, it looks (on purpose) like it's old and rusted. People telling me it looks good are full of shit, do you walk around and see old rusted cars and think DAMN THAT LOOKS GOOD. SOmetimes trends baffle me, and the "let's make it rusted before it actually happens so that we are ahead of the curve" is one of them. And i've actually seen it many times, not just in photos.

Everything i've heard about the inside is that its fantastic though. And that's from people who have been given tours of the place.

Thats by design.

They way when they only get 14K in there to see the Nyets, they can claim they get 75% attendance. :oldlol:

i'm kind of curious because i get this vibe from people they like the shirts, think its cool there is a team in Brooklyn, have no desire to become bigger basketball fans or actually go. The Knick fans i know talk more about going (to see the Knicks or a low cost alternative to see the Lakers or Heat live).

The area they had to build the arena in is not that big and they wanted nice amneities, etc. I'm thinking that corresponded with less seats. It's not that big an arena.

Again no hate, i've been told it's really really nice inside.

Doubt it.

The Knicks have been one of the most disappointing sports franchises in all of sports over the past decade...

..in terms of both success and in terms of them being nice guys and being a hard working team that is easy to root for (Isiah allegations, Steph Marbury allegations, giving up Jeremy Lin, etc).

Any smart Knick fan is going to give becoming a Brooklyn fan a serious consideration.

And the Nets have been disappointing forever. 0 championships,2 Eastern Conference titles and they missed the playoffs more time than they made it.

Knicks might have sucked for the past decade but they have much more success over the history than the Nets do. 2 championships,8 Eastern Conference titles. Also during the past few seasons the Knicks have been the better team and I expect them to be better over the coming years.

Outside and inside look ugly as hell. Looks like a theatre\tennis centre with a court thrown down or a high school\college gym inside. In this day and age I expect much more from a new stadium. I feel sorry for nets fans when their stuck with this piece of crap in 10 years time considering it's already dated and it hasn't even opened yet!

To be honest, who are we to say the outside of the arena looks ugly? The Eiffel Tower was once considered very ugly by the French. Now it's one of the most recognizable monuments in the world. As for the interior, it looks mediocre to me. You would think they would make more strides and advances in arena technology, or maybe I missed it in a post. Anything extra special about this arena?

I can't wait to see GSW's arena. They seem to be trail blazing the future of sports arenas. With some luck Seattle will too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barclays_Center

[QUOTE]It has been suggested that the New York Islanders could play games at the Barclays Center once their lease at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum expires in 2015. Brooklyn is geographically the western end of Long Island, and many on other parts of the island have roots there.

Also, the Nets and Islanders had previously shared Nassau Coliseum from 1972 to 1977. Financing documents for the arena released in December 2009 indicate that

Even if the Islanders decide to re-locate to Brooklyn, the Barclays Center's hockey sightlines won't be that good. If you saw one of the pictures on the first page, you would have to take out sections of the end-zone seating on one end just to fit a regulation-size hockey rink in that building.

Barclays is also suppose to host some exhibition hockey games featuring some teams from Russia's top league, the KHL.

The black and white looks great, as does the blue of "Barclays". The graphics overall look really good. I don't think the wood tones in the parquet work. Too dark, too yellow. I'd have gone with a classic - maybe bleached - maple.

The court and interior is nice, but why make the capacity only 18,100? This is New York. I like how it's steep. Great sightlines.

Lol nah not even a shot. The exterior mixes in with Atlantic Mall across the street.

Actually like this arena. Outside and In. Flooring could be a bit more lighter and should've mixed up the seats with black and white instead of being straight black.

Now the real problem is how the **** are they going to handle traffic around Atlantic/Flatbush intersection
