You were never in, he clearly wants you but you can't pay him anything. :confusedshrug: It's not like you can make a competitve offer but he went somewhere else. Like Foye and the Knicks.

Note: I don't think this is a huge loss. If everyone is healthy you don't need him. If they are not, he really can't hold up playing huge minutes.

That puts the Hawks out of the running.

Good pickup for Minnesota.
If Love continues to be a problem, then they can trade him and move AK into his spot.

When has Wallace ever been healthy and when a big guy has had foot problems like Lopez I'd be worried. AK and Wallace bring similar things to the table though so I don't think he was the best guy to be looking at anyway but for vet minimum how could they have complained.

2's/3's/4's. He's best as a help defender though. Handles the ball. Passes. runs. Unselfish. Should be a good fit with Adelman.

The Nets max out inferior Brook Lopez and give Kris Scrubhries $12 million a year but miss out on AK47 for less money.

Throw the Joe Johnson trade on top of that and you have a candidate for worst offseason in the NBA.

They have a chance to be #3 in the east so it would be hard to call it the worst off season.

If Kirilenko is tuned in, and gets minutes, I expect a big season from him. He's not the shot blocker he once was since becoming more perimeter orientated. If he's hitting 3's, he is very dangerous. He has a versatile offensive game, and is a very underrated passer. Adelman will love him.

The one knock i have on AK47, is that he is too passive, almost as passive as Boris Diaw. He needs to revert back to the alpha dog he was becoming once Malone and Stockton left.

This past season, he was 6th in the Euroleague in 3's attempted (5 a game), and 3rd in percentage (41%). He shot 36.7% on 1.5 attempts in his last season with the Jazz, I would expect both numbers to rise in Minnesota.

I would much rather pay Kirilenko $10 million per, than Crash Wallace

YOu don't have injury concerns? Granted, i would have concerns with both (Gerald is a bad fall from a concussion that could literally cost him a year) but to have AK-47 as a starter would worry me. I feel like he would break down.

well you both sound like idiots, but this is hilarious. the knicks have been the laughingstock of the league since, oh, say 2000? Every year they roll out this paper tiger with the largest salary in the league, and every year they were one of the worst teams in the league. Sure, getting carmelo and stat has changed that, slightly, but its crazy how quickly you forget your own past. You would think it might teach the fanbase some humility and manners. oh wait...

So it's ok for the bandwagon net fans who haven't repped their team in 10 years to act like they are going to win a title? Why did the Knick fan only get scolded?

yeah, I am still not sure what they should have done with Lin. Hes obviously not worth it (maybe worth it for houston, the way the cap hit is structured), he doesnt fit woodsons style or the strengths of melos game. But hes a huge icon ($) and they dont have any flexibility by not re-signing him (or landry) and no way to get more young talent. They really couldnt win either way

Potentially AK because he has not signed with the Timberwolves. I'm not assuming he will sign, hence the use of the word potentially.

This would be a HUGE move for Minny. He'd essentially be the glue of the line-up. He can do a little bit of everything.

Rubio/Ridnour/Barea
Roy/Shved
Kirilenko/Williams/Budinger
Love/Williams/Cunningham
Pek/Stiemsma

Yes, it's a mostly white and heavy Euro team, but it's still a heckuva line-up, on paper. Just getting and staying healthy would be their biggest hurdle.

If they stay relatively healthy, I can see them being a top 5 or 6 playoff team and winning a series.

Lopez and Warrick to NO
Wes and a first to Phoenix and Millers retiring money
Dyson and 2 NO seconds to MN

Edit: Ok. The initial report was a bit off. Millers retiring money is headed to Phoenix and not MN. Here is the original article

AP source: Lopez joins Hornets in 3-team trade

Published: July 25, 2012 Comment on this article 0

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Hornets, Suns and Timberwolves have agreed to a multiplayer trade sending 7-foot center Robin Lopez and forward Hakim Warrick from Phoenix to New Orleans, while moving forward Wesley Johnson and a first-round draft pick from Minnesota to Phoenix, a person familiar with the deal said.

The person told The Associated Press about the trade on condition of anonymity Wednesday because it has not been announced pending the completion of some routine logistical matters.

The deal also sends guard Jerome Dyson and retiring center Brad Miller's $5.1 million contract from New Orleans to Minnesota, allowing the Timberwolves to clear space under the NBA's salary cap as they pursue free agents. Minnesota also will receive two second-round draft picks from New Orleans, while the Hornets will receive cash.

Minnesota general manager David Kahn declined to confirm the deal when asked about it on a conference call Wednesday, saying only that he is "not allowed to comment on anything that hasn't been consummated."

The acquisition of Lopez fills a need at center for the Hornets, who traded away Emeka Okafor and let Chris Kaman go in free agency.

While the Hornets were able to draft 6-11 Kentucky star Anthony Davis first overall in last month's draft, Davis is expected to play often at power forward because his slender build could leave him at a defensive disadvantage in one-on-one matchups against some of the league's more powerful centers such as Dwight Howard or Andrew Bynum.

But Miller cannot be reacquired by Minny unless there is some loophole.

Most folks probably snicker at this comment - and partially for good reason. I don't think anyone envisions AK as a replacement for Love. Me included. However, for those snickering because they don't envision AK as a power forward, think again. Despite his size, or seeming lack thereof, AK's natural position is the 4, not the 3. He's always been more effective, more productive, and more comfortable at the 4. 4's can't/couldn't guard him in the post or facing up. He'll do great spelling Love throughout the course of games, and playing next to Love when Spekovic sits.

The contract is may be a little large, but it's better than signing Batum to a 4-year, $46 million deal. Kirilenko's a great defender, he'll give the Wolves a nice veteran presence, and from what I've seen of him in his games for Russia, he's been playing very well.
