You're preaching to the choir ... talking to me like I don't know these things. Just saying Kobe was blessed with a great situation to win as quickly as possible because he very selfishly forced his way to a team he wanted to be on as a rookie who hadn't done anything yet in the league. Entitlement. Just keeping things in perspective, that's all. Don't get salty, bro. I'm not making anything up here.

No where here am I saying Kobe wasn't BALLIN. LOL ... at the defensive nature of you. I'm saying the real reason Kobe was in such a great position to win early was because he forced his way to a team that was already really talented, and happened to already have a top five player. Of course he developed over the coure of 3 seasons, and won it in his 4th. The year Shaq won MVP, and the only year he truly went HAM. Kobe was a sidekick that year, then the next year Kobe raised his game to another level.

More effective from a numbers stand point, agreed. But Kobe was heavy relied upon to create for others, play make, and was their go to guy down the stretch of games. So that negates whatever disparity there is in numbers between Shaq and Kobe from 2001 - 2004. Basketball just isn't played in box scores, with numbers, stats,a nd formulas.

he forced his way to a team
This isn't accurate. Jerry West traded to get Kobe and the trade was made in advance, in order to unload Vlade's contract to sign Shaq.
All Kobe did was turn off workouts once he got a promise from LA. That is completely different.
"The deal was actually done a day ahead of time, and it was Vlade for a player to be named," said Bill Branch, the Hornets' head scout at the time who still operates out of Charlotte as a scout for the Seattle-now-Oklahoma City Sonics. "If I remember right, they didn't even tell us who they wanted us to pick until about five minutes before the pick was made. So it was never a matter of us actually drafting Kobe.""
In order to get far enough under the salary cap to make a valid pitch to O'Neal, the Lakers needed to unload Divac's contract, preferably to a team under the salary cap and preferably for a draft pick. The Hornets had traded Alonzo Mourning the previous year, were without a bona fide center, and were well under the cap after renouncing the rights to free agent Kenny Anderson. They would trade Larry Johnson to New York for Anthony Mason later that summer.
The Hornets reasoned that they could come out of the draft with no better than Vitaly Potapenko or Todd Fuller if they drafted a center, and jumped at the chance to trade the 13th pick for Divac.
"When you look back at it, when we made that trade, here was a 17-year-old kid who had played in high school," said Bob Bass, the Hornets' executive vice president of basketball operations at the time. "Twelve other teams passed on him. We made a decision to win now and not later. We had Dave Cowens as our first-year coach, and I wanted to give him a chance to win. I knew if we got Divac in here, we'd win. I didn't feel the same about Bryant. Without Divac, I thought we might have won 25 games."
The Hornets won 54 games, then a franchise record, the next season with Divac.

Stop with that nonsense. You know as well as I do Kobe's favorite player is Jordan.
He used to try to sell all of us on that early on in his career.

Yet everything I do, say, walk, talk, shoot, chew my gum, hold my shorts is an exact immitation of Jordan.

He forced a trade to a franchise that already has a long pedigree of winning.
Kobe's always been aware of his future legacy instead of just worrying about the task at hand and letting his legacy become a byproduct of winning.
Kobe ... if he really wanted to have a stronger legacy by actually proving himself would've went to Charlotte, and would've been bound and determined to turn them into a winning franchise.

Magic did the dame thing
Jerry West traded to get Kobe, Magic had a choice between the Lakers and the Bulls (well, it was about who won the coin toss) and Magic said that that he would either play for Los Angeles or remain at Michigan State.
And I don't condone what Magic did (didn't like Eli Manning refusing to go to San Diego or John Elway refusing to play for the Colts, either), but just saying his situation and Kobe's are hardly the same thing.

This isn't accurate. Jerry West traded to get Kobe and the trade was made in advance, in order to unload Vlade's contract to sign Shaq.
All Kobe did was turn off workouts once he got a promise from LA. That is completely different.

Kobe was a sidekick that year, then the next year Kobe raised his game to another level.
I'm just saying. Wade won it in his 3rd year. Why did Wade win it in his 3rd year, bro?
Answer the question ... because its the same reason Kobe was able to win so quickly.
uh...Kobe was a Laker before Shaq, so you can't say he joined LA because he though he'll get a easy ride to the Championship. The Lakers were like the Carmelo Era Denver Nuggets back then. Kobe probably "forced" his way there because he wanted the beautiful California weather.

I've read the Jordan Rules.
He made plenty of demands to get certain players on the team, or get rid of certain players.
He never actually went through with demaning himself be traded.
And if he did it was behind close doors. He didn't spend a whole summer on sports talk radios and sport television shows demanding to be traded elsewhere or saying he "rather play on mars"
And as a rookie he didn't demand a trade to an organization he wanted to play 4

A week or two before Shaq? I'm not saying he went there because of Shaq. It was a selfish move, by an arrogant rookie.

Obviously I have no idea what Kobe would have done had he been drafted by Charlotte and not traded, but I can only assume he would have shut up and played basketball. This is a man who has spent 15 (going on 16) years in the NBA dedicating his mind and body to becoming an elite player. He's put in countless hours in the gym... hell, he went to Germany and bought a ridiculous machine that's supposed to help with arthritis and other body ailments. The dude genuinely loves basketball. Kobe has ALWAYS pushed the limit; he's always tried to get away with more than he should. He took a gamble, told teams to stay away, and it worked, period.

Thats BS and you, I and we all know it.
Joe and Mama Bryant were both behind West as he shouted from the stands. Both had guns on him. Joe had one on the liver, Mama had hers on his neck.
They forced the Lakers to draft Kobe. Or else, people were going to die and the league as it was back then, would never recover from a 17 year old son of a former scrub not getting drafted.
 dang...this thread delivers

Oh c'mon. Be real about it. Everyone knows that if Joe and Mama didn't stick up Jerry West, Kobe would have been playing soccer in Europe for the past 15 years.

No, Kobe forced his way to LA. Kobe made Charlotte draft him, then trade him to LA. Kobe forced LA to make Charlotte draft him and then ship him to LA.
Thats how much power a 17 year old son of a former NBA scrub had in 1996.

that dumbass Jordan stan hasn't posted since Ne 1 came and shut sh1t down. Sad because that was basically what his whole argument was about.
but I'm sure he's gonna come up with the excuse about him not being on the internet all day.
