AH, impressing girls with dunking a basketball....doesn't last much past the hormone filled high school years. Really only netted results twice though:

I remember first impressing a trio of girls (korean, irish, jewish) by almost tearing down the rim at a house party held by the aforementioned jewish girl (who still sweats me like 10 years later) in 8th grade.

And again sophomore year after weights during the off-season catching the eyes of the girl's volleyball team by throwing down over and over again breaking the rim away loudly on the side-court during their practice. There was one greek girl on the volleyball team that I had my eye on for a while, and I caught hers (with the important accompanying smile) that day.

Trying to impress a grown woman though with athletics doesn't work IME.
But it won't hurt if you want to catch a certain girl's eye at Lifetime fitness...

...and if a chick already digs you to begin with,
anything you do will impress her.

But as for approaching a female 1st, and telling her to watch you dunk....that's cornball status. Use it as an eye-catcher and nothing more.

We had a basketball tournament at my school and my class made it to the finals. So the whole school was watching the game and when got the abll on a break away i saw the chance to impress some girls. So while getting the ball and starting to run towards the hoop i decided to dunk it and hang on the rim afterwards. I have to say that i was able to dunk back then, (I was 6 1) but not really with ease. So while i was running and the whole gym was cheering, i guess i got a little bit to emotional and positive about it. Hyped up by the atmosphere i took off way to far from the hoop and was rejected by the rim badly. While puting the ball on the rim i lost body control and crashed on the floor with my back first. Obviously instead of being the man, the whole shool was laughing at me. :facepalm :facepalm

A time or 2. Was never the biggest dunker though....and since all I can really do is go up strong with 1 hand (sometimes 2 but not consistent enough to do in a game) I don't think I'd look too impressive. I think I've actually dunked on a person 1 time.

But I have blocked some shots in a way more embarrassing/attention getting way when I saw an opportunity. If you make a monster play, no matter what it is and just play it off casually as opposed to show-boating, you get way more respect from everyone watching including the other team.

I learned that when girls watch, (some, not all, mostly scrubby) guys try to score more during a possession and won't remember fundamental pump-fakes & extra passes to cutters so you can commit to a block much easier if you've tuned into their patterns.

To answer the question, I'm not sure. And if they were impressed, it means they were already intrested in me. It's not hard to impress anyone in HS athletics when it pertains to dunking. So just because a female goes "Wow" when a guy pulls off a tomahawk slam, doesn't mean she's contemplating dropping her panties during halftime, or when the local gym closes at 8.

In high school this girl was into me (she was a year younger and also balled) and knew I was good so she would come watch me play pickup at lunchtimes. One day she brought a group of her friends who were hot so my mates were all trying to impress them on the court (none of them could dunk except me). I saw this as an oppurtunity to show off and crossed this guy up and went up for a dunk, I lost the ball midair and broke the ring it literally rotated 180 degrees. So we all ended up running away and our school was too cheap to buy a new ring so we had to ball outside for the rest of the year. So no that didn't work.

I also used to play 1 on 1 with my sport teacher once a week. I always beat him but he had been practicing extra hard he said so he brought his fiance (she was also a teacher at the school) to come watch. I destroyed him, including 1 big dunk. So it didn't help me get any girls but I embarrassed him infront of his future wife.

I'm on your wavelength. One of my old girlfriends used to love watching me dunk. She'd sneak her car into the parking lot sometimes and watch me from there. So I guess I'm not sure if it helped me create any relationships, but it seems to have helped sustain or enrich them.

But I guess if the question is just "Have you ever used your dunking ability to impress girls?" then the answer is yes. Any time a female shows up at the courts, the total amount of energy I exude increases by 17.9%. I also begin crashing the boards all over, looking for a tip dunk (which almost never comes).

Nah I was just messing around. However, if you can dunk in front of some chicks, do it and throw it down hard. Act real nonchalant about it, too. Make em think about what just happened.
