Adrian Wojnarowski just now on the Jim Rome show said during the 2006 Olympic training camps James was acting like a Primadonna with Staff and coaches & Bowen was the only one to call him out on it.

From Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski to managing director Jerry Colangelo to NBA elders, the issue of James

Link didn't work.

Not surprising Bowen called him out though. Just like he called him out in the finals and locked him down!

Probably why he wasn't selected despite dominating the practices.

i always thought of bowen as the type of player to respect everybody, even the team scrub. consequently, i always thought of him as the player not to take shit from anybody.

go bruce.

Interesting since Bowen is on the short list of players known by GM's to have good character.

So why are they writing articles about it now? Were they saving up for when something controversial happens just to add fuel to the fire?

It can be read there.

Yahoo NBA's LBJ hateration (TM Mary J. Blige) notwithstanding, this is a very good, well-researched article. It's up there with the piece Brian Windhorst (Cleveland Plain Dealer) wrote the day following "The Decision".

Bowen is an example of someone who didn't have a lot of talent but worked hard. I remember he once said that kids just need to find that one thing (a niche) that they can excel at and work hard at it.

He hung his hat on defense, studied tape, was an iron man (500 consecutive games until that bs suspension for "kicking" Chris Paul), led the league in 3 pt shooting % one year (even though he's not a natural shooter) and was an integral part of 3 championships. Should be an inspiration to kids but of course, all they see is the flash and dunks.

Must have been frustrating for him to see how easy things came for Lebron and the lack of (Lebron's) appreciation when he had to struggle so much for everything (undrafted/played all over the world). His comment probably led to him not being invited for the team.

He may be a good character guy if you're on his team but he was a dirty AF player on the floor.

I was actually thinking about this exact topic a few days ago when I made a thread about Anthony Davis and the basketball Triple Crown.

Weird.

Apparently Coach K and the staff had to talk to him back in 2006. He was being a LeDiva and even with all his talent was on the verge of being kicked off the Team USA roster. Kobe made everyone fall in line the next summer though.

Imagine Kuzma pushing Kobe to play defense...
