It's June 1st. After almost 2 years of constant speculation, discussion, rumors, etc., we are now only 30 days away from the beginning of probably the most highly anticipated free agency period in NBA history.

All of the key free agents are out of the playoffs (except Ray Allen). We now have 2009 season results to help us anticipate what each free agent will do. So it's prediction time. Let this be the official 2010 prediction thread.

Here are the key free agents. Put your prediction for each player and any commentary next to it. If want me to add someone to list, let me know:

Lebron James- New York Knicks; The move fits him perfectly and the appeal of NYC will be tough to turn down.

Dwyane Wade- Miami; They can put together a competitive team for him and give him a few more years with a Title shot before he declines.

Chris Bosh- Lakers; Lakers have the valuable trading piece for Chris Bosh in Andrew Bynum and should be able to get a deal done.

Amare Stoudemire- New York Knicks; Amare gets re-united with Mike D'Antoni and will be able to anchor the post over the next few years.

Joe Johnson- New Jersey; The Nets will be unable to upgrade their wing players this offseason and Joe Johnson could become the legit #1 option they've been looking for

Carlos Boozer- Miami; I think Utah will try its best to keep Boozer but it will probably come down to factors outside of basketball that will lead Boozer to South Beach with Wade.

Dirk Nowitski- Dallas; He has no reason to leave.

David Lee- Wizards; If they're not moving Gilbert Arenas then they're going to try to win now. Lee brings hustle, boards, and second chance points to their frontcourt.

Shaquille O'Neal- Spurs; Hes always had great things to say about Duncan and would welcome the opportunity of playing with Duncan for his final few years in the NBA.

Ray Allen- Boston; He wont leave, and they wont let him.

Tracy McGrady- Boston; He gets re-united with Doc Rivers and becomes a valuable option as their other 6th Man playing the PG/SG/SF positions.

Rudy Gay- Grizzlies; Their owner seems willing to overpay to keep Rudy and I could see them matching any offer sheet he gets.

John Salmons- Miami; Bucks saw how good he was for them but at 31 and the Bucks not being in Title Contention will lead him back to Miami.

Luis Scola- Rockets; The Rockets have a possible title contender next season and need to keep Scola to shore up their front court with Yao.

Raymond Felton- Bobcats; They probably will be the only team capable of going over the MLE for him.

Josh Howard- New Orleans; It would make a good fit considering hes an upgrade at the SF position over Peja/Wright.

Al Harrington- New Jersey; He returns home to New Jersey with the Nets as a big man who can spread the floor with his shooting.

Brendon Haywood- Lakers; Lakers would have the need after getting Bosh for a defensive big man who can take up space off the bench and he would provide that.

Raja Bell- New York Knicks; He probably would take the veterans minimum to make this move.

Luke Ridnour- Bucks; They need a veteran to backup Brandon Jennings and Scott Skiles seems to like him in that role.

Steve Blake- Detroit; He could keep their offense moving off the bench.

Tyrus Thomas- LA Clippers; Clippers would probably overpay but they could use a defensive big man as their 6th Man teaming with Griffin or Kaman.

Done.

I think Knicks, Nets, and Clippers end up with nobody important...

Bulls, Heat, Cavs, Hawks are the only teams that will sign/re-sign free agents that matter: LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Amare, Johnson. Terrible non playoff teams won't convince the big time free agents to sign.

I think the Bulls get LeBron/Johnson and Amare via sign & trade. Phx needs a solid wing and will take back Deng. So either Johnson will resign with Hawks, or LeBron resign with Cavs... but one of them will go to Bulls with Amare.

Heat will probably end up with Wade & Bosh and ship Michael Bustley to the Raptors in a sign & trade to open up more cap space. They will add either Salmons or Gay at the wing.

Lebron James - Cleveland. I think he stays. Rosters are too poor elsewhere, but he'll sign a short contract (unless the cba destroys mega-deals forever).
Dwyane Wade - Miami. I'd say Wade moves before James does, but Miami can bring him some help, so I think he'll stay there.
Chris Bosh - Chicago. They'll pay and he'll play.
Amare Stoudemire - New York. He'll go play fast break basketball in a new spot where his popularity will go back up.
Joe Johnson - New York. The Knick's second big summer deal. He'll like spoting up on breaks there.
Carlos Boozer - Miami. He'll like playing in the East with smaller power forwards. I hope Utah keeps him, but I think the economy will have us let him go. Greg Monroe will replace him.
Dirk Nowitski - Dallas. He isn't leaving.
David Lee - Oklahoma. They need bigs and have the cash. He might end up there, or back with NY with bird rights.
Shaquille O'Neal - Retire. He'll only want to play for a winner, but the winners won't want him. He might go back to LA if he doesn't go anywhere else.
Ray Allen - Boston. After they win the title this year, they will want to keep them all together for another run or two. But his contract will ensure that after those runs, Boston is in a tough spot contract wise. Old players, overpaid is what I see in Boston in two more years.
Tracy McGrady - Orlando. For a pay cut. Magic can't blow it up because of their contracts, and they can't make the switch to traditional roles either. McGrady will give them another shooter and a creator, plus he'll like the area.
Rudy Gay - LA Clippers. They have cap space and need a three.
John Salmons - ???
Luis Scola - Houston. I think both parties want this to happen.
Raymond Felton - ???
Josh Howard - I could see Washington keeping his team option to use him as a trade piece. But maybe it's more likely that he goes to a lottery team.
Al Harrington - ???
Brendon Haywood - Dallas. Cuban collects big, defensive centers at high costs. It's what landed Dampier in Dallas, and its the same thing that will keep Haywood there. They need to make some sort of move though, and I expect it to be a trade.
Raja Bell - New York. He'll sign a small contract there to play with D'antoni.
Luke Ridnour - ???
Steve Blake - ???
Tyrus Thomas - ???
Ronnie Brewer - Memphis. I bet he stays there. After the injury his stock is very low. He'll want one year to fix that, and OKC will be glad to give it to him for cheap.

I know I'm missing some teams with cap space here, but I like my big name predictions. Edit: missed Chicago. Bosh is my prediciton.

I don't know what sort of team Steve Blake's interested in going to at this point in his career, but I bet Indy makes him an offer, especially if some offseason trades go down and get a little more money to spend, he'd almost have to take the minimum right now most likely.

Screw the rest of those guys.

Raja Bell is going no where but Miami. He's stated several times he wants to play there most and it's most convenient for him. Miami is not passing up on him for the minimum. He's guaranteed to be in a Heat uniform next season.

Pros
-Winning (He wants to be on a winning team)
-Rivers
-Friends with KG
-Less pressure to perform every night

Cons
-Will need to step up his defensive effort
-Doesn't want to be a 6th man

What would a potential lineup look like with McGrady coming off the bench? Would he take over the T. Allen role if they lose him in free agency?

I think I'd want to play him 25-30 minutes a game off the bench if his body allows. Also, I'd only sign him to the veteran's min.
I'm assuming we draft Alabi at 19 and that we get someone productive backing up the point guard spot for part of the MLE - Luke Ridnour.

Something like this would work for me:
CT: Perkins (30) / Wallace (16) / Alabi (2)
PF: Garnett (30) / Davis (18) / Williams
SF: Pierce (32) / McGrady (16)/ Veteran, rookie or undrafted player
SG: Allen (32) / Allen (8) / McGrady (8)
PG: Rondo (36) / Ridnour (12) / Veteran, rookie or undrafted player

That looks pretty good to me.

There seems to be alot of good PGs in the league now, with John Wall coming into league as well. So I'm not sure if there is a huge market for him. Lakers, Knicks if they can squeeze him in, Heat maybe.....

But I'm sure Pacers will go after Ridnour hard for multiple reasons. :lol

Net fans are allowed to post, and no one is allowed to say Newark is less than Brooklyn, cause you know, the new downtown makes it just as good. :applause: And Bulls fans are allowed to add multiple players because everyone will trade for their players to replace their all stars because the aura of Jordan commands it.

And also, most of this depends on where LeBron goes. If he stays with the Cavs, things everywhere else will play out much differently. It all depends.

they should not T&S Bosh for Bynum because he is the main defensive stopper of LA. their height advantage will disappear and Gasol and Bosh is not that defensive. so they will not win a ring again with that roster.

In any case, i see two star players paired, like wade/bosh and lebron/stoudemire in order to make the first one stay. But i don't think any team will bring two star players, like for ex. bulls with lebron and bosh (though i'd like to see that). Also, after reading the interview with wade, i believe he's a bit more keen to make a move than lebron, if offered good conditions (but right now, i just can't see beyond miami and cleveland for them).

How the hell do you expect David Lee to go to the Nuggets... think about it, we obviously can't sign him straight up and New York won't sign and trade anyone because they don't want to take back any salary for him and will lose his bird rights if they sign 2 MAX FAs... there is literally no possible way for David Lee to become a Nugget...

also why would Felton go to the Nuggets?
He would get more money from a lot of other teams and the Nuggets have 2 capable starting PGs (Lawson wont be traded*fingers crossed**)

But I would love Tyrus Thomas, would be very difficult considering he's Restricted... considering the Bobcats would most likely match a full MLE deal...

I would go for Haywood or Chandler (if he opts out) for the full MLE for 5 years.... I've read that Dallas might sign Shaq and Haywood didn't like Dallas much after Dampier took back the starting spot...

btw why would Salmons go back to the Bulls? they were desperate to dump him at the deadline and didn't work at SG in Chicago... same thing Howard in Dallas, why would he go back?

sorry if i sounded like a dick btw

It depends upon how badly they want to keep Lee and Harrington. And of course, there are other free agents on the market that they could go after. It's also possible that they could go strong after Joe Johnson or Rudy Gay, but, IMO, they won't get Lebron the King.

The Nuggets once had a crush on Lee, and I believe they still do. So I believe they will make a strong push to sign him, even if they have to trade JR or Nene to get him with a sign and trade. The Knicks may say they won't do a sign and trade for Lee, but if the price is right they can be persuaded. They would go after Felton only if they traded Lawson.

I believe that the Mavs will do all they can to keep Haywood, and I personally wouldn't pay $12 million for Chandler and all of his injuries. Salmons was just a wild guess for going back to the Bulls, but, stranger things have happened. Josh Howard is still a good player and the Mavs have an owner who loves to win at all cost and he will probably let bygones be bygones. We will know for sure in about three weeks.

do you not get that the Knicks would rather re sign Lee than take Nene or JR... and the Nuggets didn't have a crush on Lee, we almost got him for Kleiza last year.... the trade was pretty much final until Karl rejected it b/c he wanted to keep LK...

Mock drafts are usually quite accurate. We pretty much know who the first 5 picks are going be, and are somewhat sure which teams will take them.
