View Full Version : How Much Is Lamarcus Aldridge Worth?

LMA and the Blazers have been negotiating all summer, and I'm sure they'll come to some agreement, but how much do you think he's actually worth?
Everyone knew Roy was worth a max contract, and everyone knew he would get it. But Aldridge is a little tougher to figure out.
Especially with absolutely moronic signings like Charlie V or Bustnani.
Because of the Raptors, LMA can't be reasonably paid less than ~10.5 million. But how much exactly is he worth?

Around 14 mil I'd say.

Around 14 mil I'd say.
That's a 5 year, $70 million contract. I think I'd be aiming more for a 5 year $65 million-ish contract.

5 years, 48 mil.
That's less than Bargnani's extension.

Considering the amount of teams with capspace next summer I could see him getting a 5/70 deal, which would instantly make him one of the 15 most overpaid players in the league.

Anyone who says less than 10mill per year is wrong...
I think he will get about 5/55-5/65

So :confusedshrug:
Different players get different contracts, and different teams give out different contracts. Just because you can say "he's better than him and he's making x amount" doesn't mean that that player should get more than said amount.

If the 5/70 deal was highly incentivized I could see it being good. Basically signing him to a "potential" sheet which actually pays him for reaching that potential.

in nba terms thats not a big difference. you guys are basically on teh same page.
what hes worth and what he will get are two different values...as is the case for nearly every player.

you do know that charlie v is getting about 6.5 a year?

He deserves about 11 million per year. I think 5 years for 55-60 million is fair. I like the idea of filling the contract with incentives based on his potential.

IMO, near max money.
He has post up ability, very good shooter, a decent defender, has size, and will probably become an even better player than what he is now. I'm sure if he further develops his passing game and works a little more on not fading away in big games then he will definitely be worth near max money.
I'm sure some of you will think I'm overrating him but there have been worst players that have gotten crazy good contracts and don't have the skills that LaMarcus has.

remember you gotta resign oden is 2 years, i could see him getting big money even if he doesn't live up to his potential. teams always over pay big men even dark and kwame got 7-8 mil a season after their rookie scale seasons.:lol but i'm serious oden will ofters of over 13-14 mil a season.

I said on Blazersedge I think about 5 years 65 million. It's not too low that he will get insulted, but not too high. Aldridge is the second most important player on this team.

5 years, $40 million, given the new economic conditions.

LMA's numbers looks a lot like Ilgauskas' numbers except LMA get less rebounds.
Here's what Ilgauskas was paid:
1999-00 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $9,000,000
2000-01 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $10,130,000
2001-02 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $11,250,000
2002-03 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $12,375,000
2003-04 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $13,500,000
2004-05 Cleveland Cavaliers NBA $14,625,000
6 Years 70 million.

Bustnani? Strong words coming from a Greg Oden fan. :lol
Bargnani was very good after November, averaging 19.8 points, 6 boards, and a 1 block (49% from the field and 48% from the 3 pt. line) in December, 18 pts, 7 boards, and a 1.5 blocks in January, 20.3 pts (52% from the field and 3 pt. line) 6 boards, and a 1.5 blocks in February, and 16 points on 44% from the field through an injury riddled March.
He'll probably average 20+ a game next year and ≥40% from beyond the arc, while Oden could very well be backing up Przybilla for the majority of the season with single digit points and boards.

Lots of Blazers fans thinking he is worth so much. My question is if the Blazers actually think he is worth that much. They were gunning hard for another power forward. Made an offer to Milsap, and was in discussion about Lee. Are they sold he is a 65mil player?
I like Aldridge's game. He has a silky jumper and is fluid in the post. But he tends to use that jumper a bit more than I like. My problem is him playing 37 min and only grabbing 7.5 boards. I'd like to see that jump to the 9-10 range. Could improve his post defense a bit too.
The Blazers have a lot of young talent, so how much they give him will dictate who they can and cannot re-sign in the future. Oden, Outlaw, Fernandez, Webster, Batum are all young players with solid potential.
I'd pay him 50 mil. He has nice upside and is very young, but in this economy I don't think he will get as much as he would've a few years back
If Bargnani's contract wasn't known, I could see Aldridge getting 5 year/50-55M. But since Bargnani's contract is known for Aldridge's agent to compare him with, I think it will be more of a 5yr/60-70M.

Jesus it looks like I'm the only one that valued LaMarcus Aldridge at the time. It's probably because I always saw him as being a Rasheed Wallace type player. He's exceeded that comparison.

I never expected him to be such a great defensive player :applause:
Although I do not like shooting big men but LMA has definitely come a long way and is one of the best if not the best PF in the league today. Imagine had Roy and Oden stayed healthy
