View Full Version : Lebron JAMES = most overrated leaper in the history of the NBA.

Everytime they show a lebron james dunk it is from a low angle where he is FAR away from the basket making his head seem to reach rim level..when in fact, it is not even close.

Lebron James has the most overrated hops in the history of the NBA.
This also explains why his dunks SUCK...because he has poor body control in the air and because he lacks in hops.

Dwight Howard is only 2 inches taller than Lebron James but has WAY MORE jumping ability. As does a player like joe Alexander, Josh Smith, Gerald Green and Travis Outlaw; guys around lebron's height who can outjump him noticeably.

Please stop overrating Lebron's jumping ability and athleticism.

He came into the league as an EXCEPTIONAL athlete but not on the the level of the elite guys...look at his draft profiles. He was known for his "Magic Johnson" like passing ability etc.

I guess somewhere along the line the NBA and Nike saw that he was definately no magic johnson so they changed the campaign and started to market him as a jumping beast. Which he is not.

http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/2299/faileyt.jpg

AS you can SEE; the SAME DUNK from two angles..BOTH at the peak (same moment) of the dunk. On the frontpage of NBA.com is the dunk at the top where his head "SEEMS" to be 3 incehs from the rim. But in reality, we look at the second pic which has a truer angle..his around is ACTUALLY close to 1 foot below the rim. ALL OF LEBRONS DUNKS where his head seems to be at teh "RIM" are based on complete skewed, bullshat pictures like the one i just posted.

Lebron is possibly the greatest one-footed leaper in NBA history. At worst he's top 3 in that regard (only guys in his universe are Jordan and Dr. J). However, he's not a very versatile leaper. He doesn't get elite air off of (and rarely even executes) two-footed leaps off a gather step or off a hop step.

I'm surprised he even gets as high as he does when he's got 180 pound PleezeBelieve attached to his p*nis.

lol Vince Carter is by far a better 1 foot leaper than LBJ.

He can do a tomahawk 1 hand FT line dunk..he dunked from the FT line IN A GAME vs. the knicks in the playoffs.

U say lebron is a good 1 foot leaper becasue a) he sucks at 2 footed jumping therefore u only see him jumping off 1 foot most of the time b) you are a homer.

VC can do this:

Without even trying. From the FT line. Lebron james woulnd't even REACH the rim if he attempted that lol.

As far as one foot leaping goes...

No one can touch James White. Most amazing 1 foot leaper i've seen...windmill from FT line, Between the legs from FT line...

Stro:

OH yeah i remember that nice dunk by LBJ. But he is not even close to the BEST "one-foot" leaper in the NBA. I mean guys like BRENT BARRY could dunk from the FT line.

dumb thread. Lebron has an exceptional leap, which can be seen from about 100 monster dunks he has done in his career and the 20 or so gigantic blocks he has done.

He can't touch the top of the backboard or above like Sampson, Chamberlain, Shawn Bradley, etc but I still do think he does have great leaping ability. Hell, he may have even been able to compete with great leapers like Mike Powell(dunked from like a foot behind the freethrow line and is the world record holder for the long jump) and Mike Connely(famous triple jumper) who could also dunk from behind the freehrow line.

The angle from the vid stro4 posted is actually below the court, shot through a glass panel, all to enhance brawns dunkyness. I blame stern for this travesty.

And no one has said Lebron puts his head above the rim everytime he dunks.

yeah lebron is an overrated dunker by far. especially since the games i seen him from two weeks ago where he missed easy wide open one handed dunks, and he missed two handed wide open alley oops on many occasions. lebron's leaping ability is crap and overrated.

when is lebron just overrated instead of "most overrated"?

this thread is dumb. Every watch Lebron play? I guess the 3 or 4 dunks he pulls off a game all suck. Like those points don't count or something because Lebron can't pick up a penny of the top of a blackboard. We should just give the MVP to someone else that jumps higher.

Your an idiot.

Couldn't you at least find something relevant to bash Lebron?

There is no doubt LeBron has hops. Why even question this? He's pretty much done a free throw line dunk in a game before, he his gets to the rim eye-level consistently. That's not to say he's the best or near the best dunker because he's not. But he's pretty exceptional to me for being 6-8 250+. Probably the only player bigger than him that can out-hop him is Dwight Howard, and even then LeBron still might weigh more than Dwight.

I also like how the original poster just disappears after the flames. *POOF* Vanish! :oldlol:

Lebron is a quick leaper, just like Barkley was a quick leaper. He gets off the floor quickly.

That's probably a better skill to have than pure leaping height.

:applause:

Also a guy like Dennis Rodman, under the glass could jump 2, 3 times while his opponent was still on their first jump. That 2nd and 3rd quick hop off the ground. Same goes for younger Barkley as well.

i didnt hear anybody sayin that particualr dunk he got his head by the rim but whatevs lebron is still the best one foot dunker and best in game dunker he has like 3 dunks he does that crazy tomahawk which he and josh smith do he should break his arm and hand every time doing it idt you know how hard that is doind cocking it back that far the stupid reverse windmill and the occasional windmill it makes no sense how he gets so high off a one foot jump

and everytime he goes for a dunk its not like he tryin make out his bunnies its like a simple lil lay in for him

he has no creativity at all though he will still win the the dunk contest since ppl are on his jawn like that he will just jump as high as he can from as far out as he can and try to break his arm basicaly four times and get 50 for each one

Is this bat $hit crazy week? If you wanna say his leaping ability is overated (wich it aint), that's one thing. But most overated ever? This post should be filed right next to the one where some dude says averaging 30/10/10 and an unknown amount of blocks and steals 5 years straight is somehow bad for your team.

His dunks are plain and he isn't that great of a two legged jumper.. But off one leg not too many guys get as high as him... And when you consider how much he weighs it makes it even crazier..

Pause this at the six-second mark. He clearly has to duck the backboard. Both hands are clearly at the top of the square. And he clearly is jumping as high as he needed to in order to execute the dunk in fear of hitting the full moon that was out that night.

Thread back-fired.

LeBron will own the 2010 dunk contest. I know this because these are just....

why are people acting like lebron has to go all out for game-time dunks? the plain dunks you see lebron pull on a regular basis are sick as they come, could you imagine what they would be like if he put a little effort into them? Absolute madness...

calling his leaping ability overrated is terrible. thread OP should be shot. Look at his vert when he chases down blocks off the glass in transition too... overrated... pshhh lol...

his 2 legged jump isn't as impressive, but he also seldom does it

lebron james = 6'9/81 inches, basketball rim, 10'/120 inches off the ground. therefore, if his head goes above the rim 1 inch or equal to the rim as in this pic:

http://www.nbaloud.com/userimages/lebron6.jpg

120" - 81" = 39" vertical, am i right?

First off: one random image does not determine a person max vert. Secondly: Lebron leaping is usually put on far more impressive display with his blocks, as opposed to his dunks. I'm not a big fan of him or the Cavs...but to question his physical ability is inane. Watch one Cavs game in it's entirety and there will be at least one "wow...there is no one else the league that could do that" moment.

Clearly, that one photo determines his vertical during a game. Great job.
