GOAT's don't have a losing record on the highest stage and have lost more on the highest stage than won despite switching teams 5 times.

Yes it would mean they never would have a title. I mean Malone and Stockton never won why would two Pippen's win when Pippen never won league nor finals nor DPOY?

Over Pippen and MJ? You have to take into consideration the cost savings of having 2 pippens and being able to sign a 3rd star

Pippen wasn't a guy that could come out and start dominating like Brown and obviously not like Tatum - these guys drop 30 all the time, while it was a complete shock when Pippen did - a real rarity.
It's night and day - Pippen was just a dunker and transition player or system player with low peak capability (not on scouting report according to...

I agree to an extent. I think Tatum is a greater floor raiser but Pierce is a better cherry on top. Pierce went toe to toe with Lebron and Kobe. Verdict is still out on Tatum. He is by impact alone equal.

I'm trying to decide this strictly in terms of power rankings rather than their title runs, but it's hard. For the most part they didn't face particularly strong opponents on average, so they're not as battle-tested as I'd like.
As much as people asterisk the Raptors' title...

Pierce wasn't a franchise guy, if you are at your peak, but only lead your team to 33 wins in a shitty conference you simply aren't that guy, regardless of cast. Pierce was a #2 option type of player on a championship squad.
Most people picking him in this thread are simply going with him because he's an OG.

I have Pierce ever so slightly ahead of Tatum. If Tatum ever gets his shot back he is clearly better.

Brown guarded Doncic and had him on skates. Don’t matter what stats you bring up. The people who watched know.

Horford was low key the most important player for Celtics.
He straight up dominated Gafford at age 38 and hit all the important 3 pointers.
Horford is probably the most impactful 38 year old I've seen play since Duncan.
I see Horford intends to play one more season for Celtics. I think that's good for Celtics. To me he is their clear...

Team success has nothing to do with individual talent. Tatum has had loaded teams his whole career.

Yea these metrics are supposed to not be affected by teammates and do decently at assigning credit to each guy. There’s a lot of math that goes into that I’m no expert in but this is what I read. Also kawhi, lebron, Giannis also played with elite defenders

As a player Mazzulla led West Virginia past John Wall and Demarcus Cousins in the NCAA tournament. He scored 17 points and on a few possessions even defended Cousins.

I have to look more into it. But even if it’s “accounting” for it, it’s not perfect. And if Steph is on the floor with elite defenders he’s naturally gonna play better individual defense, it makes it easier for him.

To be fair, Pierce didn't have much success as the main franchise player in Boston, only made the playoffs one time in a 4 season span from '04-'07 in a shitty East until KG and Ray showed up.

In any NBA finals you will have the best team in the NBA playing against arguably the second best team in the NBA. Not always but very often the man that leads the Finals in scoring has a strong contingent of fans that would argue he's the best player in the NBA and that player was legit mvp candidate. That is not "just an above average player."...

Of the last 40 years worth of Finals, Brown ranks only 33rd in scoring because he's clearly just an above average player on a stacked team.
I'd slow down there, guy.
