Horford has no defensive presence in the paint. No deterrence.

Boston will win if it’s trading open 3s for tough Luka 2s vs brown as good as he is. If Luka cooks they’ll put someone bigger in tatum

Not quite a 55 win team.

Is Brown and Wiggins really that strong?
Maybe it's being strong, but also being quick on your feet, like being able to bounce back from a push quickly. Luka is probably used to people flying with a push, but Brown comes bouncing back.

I understand that sentiment but the fact that Boston has always been prone to choking and underwhelming while the Mavs in the Doncic era have largely overperformed and have an unphased killer in Doncic cannot go unmentioned.
Yes, obviously this Boston team is different and even just acquiring Derrick White alone made that the case. If the Mavs...

It should really be "playoffs MVP", not FMVP. They have somewhat fixed that with conf finals MVP. If you get both the conf finals MVP & FMVP then you're pretty much the playoffs MVP.

if luka was actually trying instead of playing like he's a diabetic, they'd be down by 10 or single digits and it would be a close game. but here we are wondering why he has the most unimpressive 17pt 1st half while celtics outclass them in every single way possible.

50-19 when LeBron played.
3-10 when he sat.

At least two turnovers just because Mavs don't have someone else bring the ball up.
Luka might be able to work against Brown in the post instead of on the perimeter.

He has what it takes to be FMVP, though. Some people forget that he was #3 in the MVP rankings early in the 2017-2018 season. Healthy Porzingis on a good team is MVP calibre.
Even this season, his stats are not far off from Tatum & Brown. A couple of strong games from Porzingis and a couple of bad games from Tatum and this is a very real...

It always won you a ring if you could actually do it.
Nah. Athleticism doesn't bother him. Length bothers everyone. The main thing that bothers him is strength. But he still torches regardless just less so.

He might win, he might not.
It’s one half of game 1 so far.
And it’s a very overrated award. It means you were the best player on a team for one series. I mean thats cool but it doesnt give a full picture of anything. It’s a 4-7 game sample size and people use that to define legacies. Makes no sense.

To be fair..athletic defenders bother everyone. Brown doing an incredible job with Luka and Jrue handling Kyrie well too.
It's obviously too soon to tell because the Mavs aren't bitches but it might not be a great matchup for them. The Celtics are also prone to go to sleep and/or puke on themselves so we'll see.

It doesn't matter. The Celtics are 5 All-Star caliber/near All-Star caliber players deep with a 6th (Horford) former All-Star caliber player. They're the best team in the league and the Mavs are a fantastic matchup for them. This series will be over in 5 at most.
Yes, I realize, 1st game, 1st half. Whatever.

Minnesota's perimeter defenders didn't have the right combination of size and strength for Luka. They did much better on KD/Booker.

If I'm the Mavs I'm at least encouraged by the fact Tatum has been irrelevant.
Mavs need to settle down and definitely need to scrape away some of Washington's minutes and maybe give Hardaway some time. I do agree with a Kleber / Gafford or Lively combo too. Hell, Dwight Powell is ass but at least he has the foot speed to close to 3 point...

At this rate, if he wins it’s a media mvp. Brown has been their consistent ‘rock’ throughout the postseason, and if KP plays half this well through the finals he’s easily the best in the entire series.

Yes, he has. Would be ecstatic with a Jrue win but he won't have the offensive output to get it done and the rest of the Celtics are too good defensively for him to stand out enough on that end either.
