Double the Pips, Double the Quit in playoffs
Double the Pips, Double the hate on Kukoc for contractual reasons.
Double the Pips, Double the racist Coach Phil Jackson will be.
Double the Pips, Double the snatch MJ's son will be tapping.

People played at least three years of college ball for most of NBA history, and among players in the 1-and-done era Tatum had the good fortune of being drafted to a well constructed team that quickly became a playoff fixture. So it's really not surprising, nor particularly meaningful.
I agree however that the way ESPN decides to rate him is...

Lebron's last ring was at 35.
Duncan won a ring at 37.
Horford at 38.
Kareem at 40.
Lebron hasn't been able to take a backseat and be an elite role player. He still tries to be the man. Honestly, in my book of the greatest, I am beginning to rank the ability to contribute as a role player.

He's probably a bit better. But that's largely from his physical tools. Tatum's instincts for scoring are miles behind Paul Pierce.

If that's what you wanna go by, that's fair and to each their own. But it's kinda like saying "Malika Andrews has Tatum over Pierce, so I do too." We saw her just vote Tatum as FMVP.
Comparing players by all-nba selections or allstar selections or any of that is basically comparing them based on what Malika Andrews thinks. Or Skip Bayless. Or...

You can continue to hate but nothing I wrote was untrue. He is actually top 10 in a lot of "before the age of 27" playoff statistics including assists, which surprised me a bit as the passing element of his game is a more recent development. 13th in blocks. Any player that has ever won a championship doesn't win a championship if he is drafted...

It is when you consider that Pippen didn't play in Game 6
Then he missed Game 7 in the 90' ECF - well actually he played that game but was 1-10 with a doctor-diagnosed migraine..
The doctor kept him out of Game 6 in 89' but he tried to play through it in 90' - the doctor literally diagnosed him with a condition where he gets "migraines"...

How far was straight away center field at the Polo Grounds? Had to be over 500 feet, no?
Just looked as I was posting and it was 450 feet. Crazy.

Pierce was actually pretty subpar during the 2010 Finals. I remember him having a few bad games in that series.
The thing is we haven't even seen Tatum peak yet, he's only 26, still has room for improvement. But already has the equal amount of All-NBA team selections Pierce has. There is no doubt Tatum likely surpasses Pierce once his career is...

Good post. Peak Ray was putting up space and pace numbers in the grind out, ugly, lower efficiency early 2000’s playoff runs.
Peak Ray would put a knife in an elite defenses heart in a way Tatum has never done.
Ray was better than Kobe on offense through 2005 ish. Pierce was better than Kobe on defense in basically his entire career.

Bird is certainly better at midrange and free throws but he really wasn't that impressive at 3s. Sure that's because of when he played but I don't like giving guys skills they didn't have in a comparison of skills. He shot 3s at a very low volume and was only good at them for part of his career (and generally poor in the playoffs, even on low...

Well thats the thing, Tatum tries to play like Luka or Pierce, but he just doesnt have the strength to be a bully. He’s slim hipped. Nor the craftiness to really manipulate shot blockers like those guys or Kobe or whoever.
He should be playing more like Haliburton, and hes decent when he does altho he doesnt do it AS well bc he doesnt have the...
