These are all good things he can change right away, tactically, on his path to becoming a stronger, faster athlete.

I probably think of of him as a better defender than you do (all things considered I think he is average+) but it is besides the point. Had he kept up what he was able to do in the 1st half, would've resulted in a win. That was realistic to expect. So in this particular case, his rebounding was missed a lot more. I had some problems with his play...

As for making Jokic better;
It’s all about physical fitness and wing skills.
Much more training for 3pt shooting, and ball handling and gathering on drives.
Along with more intense strength training, higher protein lower carb alcohol free diet, etc

:facepalm not even asking for DPOY effort, just...any effort on that end. because standing around like a traffic cone hurts your team. especially if you happen to be the center of said team.

For most of the year (and the past few years), if he had tried to do what you are asking, he would be spending a lot of time sitting in foul trouble. It was just too easy for drivers to throw their bodies or hands into someone and get a cheap foul call on a contest. Maybe not so much since the all star break. Jokic simply doesn’t have the...

In Jokic' case, rebounds. He is a good team defender and a not good enough individual defender. This will not change much and it was not possible to change it last night. But all those second chance points the Wolves got cost the Nuggets the game. In general, a great defender is better to have, but Jokic will never be a great defender. His...

While your point is fine it makes me want to point out why I sometimes hate playoff series numbers. Shaq had 11 while +19 in only 20 minutes of a blowout win where Malone was 2-20 and Stockton was 0-6 somehow. Without that one game(a win) he’s at 25/11 for the series. Not great for him but not point making awful.
A lot of series with shitty...

Will always love Pierce but he's lost his mind since retiring. Or we are possibly seeing the stupid side of him that the teams he played for could hide in the days before social media took over.

Mine is really bad.
I rooted against Jordan. And Bird. Against the Heat when they had LeBron. Against the Spurs when the Suns had Nash. Against Giannis. Didn't really work out for me.

let me ask you a serious question: what do you value more? rebounds or defense?
jokic stays still while opponents blow past him for a layup/shot, but at least he collects rebounds if they miss. that's why he can grab so many rebounds.
but it is more effective than actually trying to contest the shot and collecting the legitimate rebound?

I don't want to derail the thread, but since you mentioned him, Larry Bird gets as big of a pass for underperforming in the playoffs as any top 10 player. I know he's someone who's impact goes beyond the boxscore, but for the clutch rep that he has, some of his playoff performances are shockingly mediocre.
1981 Finals: 15 ppg on 46%TS

Ostertag and Malone were big/strong enough to make him work for it. Teams that had the size to throw at Shaq and the pick-and-roll shooting to abuse his lazy ball screen defense like Utah, Sacramento, and Portland matched up best.

His era of players. The ones he has competed with since entering his prime or near it that are within his age range.
He has more MVPs than anyone during that time and as many titles. His contemporaries be would be competing with are Giannis, Embiid... Luka and Tatum if you wanted to stretch it age wise. Before them it was the LBJ and Curry era....

Edwards just won a game 7 on the road against the Champs where his teammates contributed 82 points on 61 TS and he himself scored 16 on 32 TS.... Let me repeat, 16 on 32 TS..... And his team won.
Jordan couldn't play like that as a 22 year old and win. His team sucked in comparison.

Modern players would get absolutely obliterated for having Larry Bird's playoff failures. Fans just didn't have the access to information and stats and players weren't put under a microscope like they are today; which is why past players are mythologized so. And I'm not trying to say Bird isn't an all time great. He absolutely was, I just think...

Meh. Jokic could still win one or two more titles and end up on the Larry Bird their. While playing a completely different style or brand of basketball, right now, the trajectory of his career is not much worse than the first decade of Wilt's or Kareem's. Without doing much evaluation, he is already on the Moses Malone level which places him...
