76ers sign Josh Davis

Philadelphia 76ers President and
General Manager Billy King announced today that the Sixers have signed
free agent Josh Davis. Per team policy, terms of the contract are not
disclosed.
The 6-foot-8, 240 pound forward began the 2003-04 season in training
camp with the Chicago Bulls, but was waived on Oct. 20 prior to opening
day. He later signed a 10-day contract with Atlanta, where he appeared
in four games, with one start, and averaged 1.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and
5.8 minutes per game.
Between his NBA stops, Davis played 40 games for the Idaho Stampede (CBA)
and was honored with three CBA postseason awards, 2003-04 CBA Most
Valuable Player, Newcomer of the Year and All-League First Team. Davis
ranked in the league's top-10 in scoring average (9th, 18.7), rebounds
per game (4th, 9.6), offensive rebounds per game (6th, 2.7), field goal
percentage (7th, .590) and thee-point field goal percentage (7th, .411).
Davis played four years at Wyoming (1998-02), where he became the third
player in school history to tally 1,000 career points and 900 rebounds.
The native of Salem, Oregon, was a three-time Mountain West All-Conference
selection and earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in his senior
season (2001-02).
