The New Jersey Nets have signed rookie free agent center Kyle Davis, Nets CEO Rod Thorn announced today. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not released.
"Kyle performed well on our summer league team in Orlando," said Thorn. " He is an aggressive rebounder and shot blocker and we feel that he will provide us with additional depth at the center position."
The 6-10 center out of Auburn averaged 6.4 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 2.0 bpg in five games for New Jersey in the 2004 Pepsi Pro Summer League in Orlando, FL. Davis played four seasons for Auburn, averaging 5.8 ppg and 6.0 rpg in 116 career games. Last year as a senior, Davis tallied 6.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg and 2.6 bpg. He ranks second all-time in SEC history behind Shaquille O'Neal with 360 career blocks and led the SEC in blocks in each of his four years at Auburn.
