Nets sign Jason Collins to Extension

The New Jersey Nets have signed center Jason Collins to a multi-year contract extension, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today. As per club policy, terms of the agreement were not released. InsideHoops.com is told it's for four years and $24 million.
“Jason has been an integral member of this team for the past three seasons,” said Thorn. “He is an intelligent player who can play multiple positions and one who has worked diligently to improve every facet of his game since he came into the league. We are very pleased that he will be with the Nets for the foreseeable future.”
The Nets acquired Collins on June 27, 2001 from the Houston Rockets as part of a four-player trade. Collins has career marks of 5.4 ppg and 4.5 rpg, while shooting 42.0% from the field in 236 regular season games and marks of 4.3 ppg and 4.4 rpg, while shooting 36.4% from the field in 48 playoff games over three seasons.
In 78 games last season, Collins averaged career-highs of 5.9 ppg and 5.1 rpg while shooting 42.4% from the field. He led the team once in scoring, 10 times in rebounding, 20 times in blocks and set single game highs in points (19), rebounds (13), assists (8), and steals (4).
