Knicks sign Matt Barnes
Knicks News | Oct. 6, 2005
New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that free agent forward Matt Barnes has been signed to a contract. Terms of the deal are not disclosed.
Barnes, 6-7, 225-pounds, averaged 3.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 43 games for Sacramento and Philadelphia last season. The Citrus Heights, CA-native was traded from the Kings to the 76ers on Feb. 23, 2005 as part of a six-player deal.
The training camp roster is now at 18.
InsideHoops.com Editor's View: With Tim Thomas gone, the Knicks wanted some small forward depth. Barnes will play behind Quentin Richardson and Trevor Ariza. His time will be pretty limited.
