Celtics: Tony Allen has right knee surgery

The Boston Celtics announced today that guard Tony Allen had
successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to repair torn cartilage
at New England Baptist Hospital. The surgery was performed by Team Physician
Dr. Brian McKeon.
Allen is expected to begin rehabilitation immediately under the medical
staff's supervision.
Allen, the 25th overall selection in the 2004 NBA Draft, averaged 6.4 points
and 2.9 rebounds in 16.4 minutes of play his rookie season. The 6-4 guard
made 34 starts for the Celtics with the team going 21-13 in those games. He
was selected to represent the rookies in the gotmilk? Rookie Challenge at
All-Star Weekend where he scored 17 points to lead the team. Allen
participated on the Celtics entry in the 2005 Reebok Vegas Summer League,
averaging 16.8 points on 55.9 percent shooting from the field as he earned
First Team Reebok Vegas Summer League honors.
